The Bangkok Post newspaper quoted Deputy Prime Minister Prawit as saying that among the three arrested officers was a police colonel who said he was "ordered" to help former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra leave the country.
Mr Prawit said the officer had revealed the name of the person behind the entire plan to help Ms Yingluck flee the country, but the Deputy Prime Minister would not reveal the identity of this person.
Mr. Prawit also refused to respond to information that the person behind everything was a former Bangkok City Police Chief.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Prawit, Ms. Yingluck drove to the Aranyaprathe border checkpoint in Sakaew province bordering Cambodia at midnight when the checkpoint was closed.
Ms. Yingluck is said to have changed cars and then gone to a casino to cross the border into Cambodia with a secretary./.
