Visiting and encouraging 7 sailors in distress at sea in Nghe An

Previously, at 12 noon on January 6, fishing boat number NA 93426TS, with 7 crew members on board, captained by Tran Van Tuan, a permanent resident of Son Hai commune, Quynh Luu district, was fishing about 100 nautical miles from the mainland when the propeller shaft tube was dislodged and water flooded into the boat.

Discovering the incident, the crew tried every possible way to fix the problem but were helpless. By 1 p.m. the same day, the ship and all the property on board had sunk.

The 7 crew members struggled with the waves until 3:00 p.m. on January 6 when they were rescued by fishing boat NA 95058TS, captained by Nguyen Van Lieu, whose permanent residence is in Hamlet 10, Son Hai Commune, Quynh Luu District.

However, due to struggling with the big waves for 2 hours, most of the crew members were exhausted and injured. At 9:30 a.m. on January 7, the injured crew members were brought ashore. Total property damage was estimated at 700 million VND.

Immediately after receiving the information, leaders of Quynh Luu district, departments and offices of the district and Son Hai commune government went to the families of the fishermen to visit and encourage the fishermen to quickly overcome difficulties, stabilize the situation, and continue to go out to sea; at the same time, they gave each sailor a gift worth 500,000 VND./.
