It is expected that around the first half of October 2017, the Ministry of Education and Training will announce the curriculum and solicit public opinion 60 days before finalization.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Thuyet, Editor-in-Chief of the General Education Program, told VOV.VN reporters that the Ministry of Education and Training has approved the general education program. Next is the stage of compiling the curriculum of subjects and educational activities, including experiential activities.

It is expected that in the first half of October 2017, the Ministry of Education and Training will announce the curriculum of subjects and educational activities to solicit public opinions 60 days before finalizing and submitting it to the curriculum review councils for review and approval. At that time, organizations and individuals can rely on the curriculum to write new general education textbooks.

The Experiential Activity Program is also being compiled and has not been reviewed or issued, so the compilation of this activity manual cannot be implemented yet.

In October 2017, the Ministry of Education and Training will solicit public opinion on subject programs.

According to Resolution 88 of the National Assembly, from the 2018-2019 school year, the new general education program and textbooks will be applied in a rolling manner for each primary, secondary and high school level.

However, at the 2016-2017 school year summary meeting held in August 2017, many localities suggested that the implementation of the new general education program should be postponed.

In response to many recommendations from localities, Mr. Doan Van Ninh, Director of the General Education Innovation Support Project (Ministry of Education and Training) said that the Ministry has just approved the new general education program and is reviewing the conditions of facilities and teaching staff to implement the program according to the roadmap set out in Resolution 88. In particular, priority is given to ensuring and improving the quality of education.

In response to the local proposal to postpone the implementation of the new general education program, the Ministry of Education and Training will listen to the recommendations and may propose to the Government and submit to the National Assembly for consideration to extend the time to prepare more thoroughly for the development and compilation of the new program, textbooks as well as other necessary conditions when implementing the new general education program./.
