(Baonghean.vn) - After just one rain, a nearly 10 km long snow-covered district road in Thanh Chuong district turned into a pond. This has been going on for many years.

The road from Thanh Lien commune intersection through Prison No. 6 to Ho Chi Minh road is nearly 10 km long, passing through 3 communes of Thanh Chuong district. This road was built in 1997, but for more than 5 years now, it has been seriously degraded. According to Mr. Pham Xuan Luc - Chairman of Thanh My commune People's Committee, this road was previously called Provincial Road 533, but later this name was transferred to another road in the same district. Currently, this road runs through and connects 3 communes of Thanh Lien, Thanh My and Hanh Lam and resettlement communes such as Thanh Son, Ngoc Lam... with the center of Thanh Chuong district. However, for many years now, "potholes" have appeared densely. People's traffic has encountered many difficulties. After just one rain, the road turns into a pond. On the road right in the center of Thanh My commune, many "potholes" are up to 10 cm deep, greatly hindering traffic. "It is normal for vehicles to fall down because the road is bad" - said a resident of Thanh My commune living on this road. Photo: Tien Hung. |

According to the People's Committee of Thanh My Commune, the commune still spends more than 20 million VND on repairs every year, but it's like "a drop in the ocean". "Before the recent Lunar New Year, the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong District also supported 200 million VND for repairs, but only a few days later, when it rained, the road returned to its original state", said the Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh My Commune, adding that the repair measures are usually to use crushed stone to fill in damaged areas or clear the roadside to let water flow. Many sections of the road have now been almost completely peeled off. Photo: Tien Hung. |

"Along this road, there are two high schools and many primary and secondary schools, so it is very difficult for children to travel. We have also proposed many times to build a road, but so far there have been no results," Mr. Pham Xuan Luc added. Photo: Tien Hung. |

Faced with this situation, some people living on both sides of the road have also taken the initiative to use crushed stone to repair the road in front of their houses. However, the repair is only temporary. "In the rainy season it is muddy, and in the dry season the dust flies everywhere, unbearable," said Mr. Pham Van Hoa (32 years old, Thanh Lien commune).
