Establishment of Provincial Steering Committee on science, technology development, innovation, digital transformation and Project 06

Comrade Pham Minh Chinh - Politburo member, Prime Minister, Head of the Steering Committee chaired at the Government headquarters; co-chaired by Deputy Prime Ministers.

The conference was broadcast live to ministries, branches, ministerial-level agencies and localities. At the Provincial People's Committee bridge, comrade Le Hong Vinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired; co-chaired by comrade Bui Dinh Long - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

Also attending were Colonel Phan Dai Nghia - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Commander of the Provincial Military Command and representatives of leaders of departments and branches.

At the conference, the Organizing Committee announced Decision 598/QD-TTg dated March 13, 2025 of the Prime Minister establishing the Government Steering Committee on science, technology, innovation, digital transformation and Project 06 (Steering Committee) on the basis of merging the Government's Steering Committee for administrative reform, the National Committee on digital transformation and the Prime Minister's Project 06 Implementation Working Group.

The Government Steering Committee is headed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; it also has 9 Deputy Heads of the Steering Committee and 18 members.

The Steering Committee established 3 supporting subcommittees including: Subcommittee on Project 06 implementation; Subcommittee on Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation; Subcommittee on Administrative Reform.

Pursuant to this Decision, the Prime Minister requests: Ministries, ministerial-level agencies, Government agencies and People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities to consolidate and merge the Steering Committees for administrative reform, digital transformation and implementation of Project 06 into the Steering Committee for science and technology development, innovation, digital transformation and Project 06 headed by the Minister, Head of the ministerial-level agency, Government agency, Chairman of the People's Committee of the province or centrally run city.

In his opening speech at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the importance of consolidating and establishing the Steering Committee for the development of science, technology, innovation, digital transformation and Project 06; especially implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation.

Emphasizing that only when local ministries and branches move can the whole country move, the Prime Minister requested that localities, ministries and branches establish provincial, ministerial and branch Steering Committees to implement the development requirements of the country, each sector and each level.
