(Baonghean.vn) - On March 5, Mr. Hoang Van Thu - Director of Vinh International Airport said that he is coordinating with the port authority to make a detailed report on the young man breaking into a Vietnam Airlines plane to send to the Airports Corporation and the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.

The young man who broke in was identified as Le Ngoc T. (21 years old), a second-year student, class K3, course 57, Faculty of Construction, Vinh University.

The young man broke in at around 12:00 on March 3, when the Vietnam Airlines plane was completing procedures to pick up passengers from Vinh airport to prepare for the flight to Ho Chi Minh City. When the young man reached the plane's door, he was discovered by the flight attendants, who stopped him and reported him to the security force.

Due to the incident, the flight had to stop for about 30 minutes before taking off. The student’s family also presented relevant documents and records to prove their child’s health condition, so the young offender was allowed to go home by the police without being detained for investigation.

The incident of a young man breaking into Vinh airport is rare. Therefore, on March 5, security at Vinh airport was tightened not only to ensure safety, but also to reassure passengers. Security forces were increased, the top priority is to prevent similar situations from happening and to protect the safety of passengers.

Mr. Thu added that although the incident did not cause any damage, it showed the risk of security and safety at the airport area. "Currently, the airport has increased aviation security control staff at key locations and the aircraft parking area. At the same time, an inspection team has been set up to review the entire working process in all departments to promptly correct any deficiencies, if any," Mr. Thu said.
