Young people and students join hands to destroy golden apple snails that harm rice

This year's autumn crop, the entire Nghia Dan district planted nearly 3,500 hectares, of which nearly 70 hectares of rice were damaged by golden apple snails, concentrated in the communes of Nghia Khanh, Nghia Hoi, Nghia An... Nghia Khanh commune alone had more than 30 hectares of rice damaged by golden apple snails, of which the most damage was in the hamlets of Hong Khanh, Thuong Khanh, Trung Khanh, Cuong... with a density of 30 - 40 snails/m2; 5 - 10 egg nests/m2.

Faced with that situation, Nghia Dan District Youth Union coordinated with Nghia Khanh Commune Youth Union to mobilize over 150 youth union members and students to help farmers destroy golden apple snails.
On the morning of August 5, the Youth Union and students of Nghia Khanh commune, together with the people of the hamlets, collected more than 200kg of golden apple snails that harm rice. At the same time, they collected and treated garbage and pesticide packaging and bottles in the fields, contributing to environmental protection and creating favorable conditions for the growth of autumn-season rice.
