Information from the Dien Chau District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station said that a sample of a sick pig taken for testing on February 8 at Mr. Le Tien Dung's household in Hamlet 6, Dien Hai Commune tested positive for African swine fever this afternoon, February 9. Worryingly, Dien Hai Commune is a locality bordering Dien Kim Commune.

Thus, Dien Hai is the latest locality in Dien Chau district to have an outbreak of African swine fever, after Dien Kim commune.

Meanwhile, African swine fever is still complicated in Dien Kim commune, the number of pigs destroyed is increasing. On February 8, Dien Kim commune continued to destroy 3 sows of 3 families weighing from 162 kg - 198 kg/pig. Thus, in just 16 days, Dien Kim commune has destroyed 95 pigs, including 30 sows.

Mr. Pham Xuan Bang - Chairman of Dien Kim Commune People's Committee said that the locality is actively implementing epidemic prevention solutions. In addition to setting up 2 epidemic control posts on the main road, the locality also allocated the budget to buy 3 tons of lime powder, along with the district providing 2 tons of lime powder and 35 liters of chemicals to prevent the epidemic. However, because this epidemic spreads quickly, while the weather is constantly rainy, it is difficult to control. Currently, there are more than 300 pigs in Dien Kim commune.

Thus, up to this point, in Dien Chau district, there are still 4 communes that have not passed 30 days of African swine fever: Dien Kim, Dien Cat, Dien Loc and Dien Hai./.
