Arrest of a subject who stole nearly 100kg of dogs to sell

Previously, from the beginning of June 2021, in some districts of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces, dog thefts occurred continuously, causing public outrage. Following the direction of the provincial police, Nghi Loc district police established a special project to combat them.

After a period of understanding the methods and tricks of the subjects, at 2:00 a.m. on July 30, 2021, the Criminal Investigation Police Team on criminal, economic, and drug crimes of Nghi Loc District Police, co-chaired with the police of Nghi Phuong and Nghi My communes, successfully broke up a property theft case (dog theft), initially arresting 2 subjects including: Nguyen Van Thuyen (born in 1993), residing in Hamlet 10, Nghi Trung Commune, Nghi Loc District for property theft and Luong Thi Bich Ngoc (born in 1975), residing in Hong Son Ward, Vinh City for receiving property obtained by others through crime.

Knowing that their accomplice had been arrested, on August 6, 2021, two other subjects in the dog theft case, both residing in Hamlet 10, Nghi Trung Commune, Nghi Loc District, Nguyen Van Duyet (born in 1996) and Nguyen Hong Cuong (born in 1998), also went to Nghi Loc District Police to surrender for property theft.

At the Investigation Police Agency, the subjects confessed that from the beginning of June 2021 until now, they have committed more than 50 dog thefts from people in the districts of Nghi Loc, Hung Nguyen, Vinh city, Yen Thanh, Do Luong and some districts of Ha Tinh province with a total loss of over 200 million VND.

The police also seized evidence: 5 dogs weighing 105 kg, 5 snake skins, 1 homemade electric gun, 1 homemade sword, 4 glass bottles, 1 pickup truck used to transport dogs, 1 motorbike, 1 iron cage, 4 mobile phones and other evidence related to the case.

Currently, Nghi Loc District Police are continuing to investigate, expand the case and consolidate the case file to strictly handle the subjects according to the provisions of the law.
