This afternoon, the District Department of Agriculture and the District Veterinary Department directly went to Muong Tip commune to count the number of pigs, destroy infected pigs, and coordinate with the commune authorities to deploy epidemic prevention solutions in the locality.
The difficulties for Ky Son are the large, scattered terrain, limited awareness of the people, along with the small-scale, free-range farming practices of ethnic minorities.
In the immediate future, the district will send agricultural and veterinary officers to directly direct the epidemic prevention work. Accordingly, Muong Tip commune will be directed to set up a checkpoint and Muong Ai, a neighboring commune, will be directed to set up a checkpoint on the main road.
In Anh Son district, Mr. Hoang Truong Ky's family's pigs in block 6B, Anh Son town had 7 pigs showing symptoms of fever, not eating, constipation, staggering and dying. After that, the pigs continued to get sick, up to 12 pigs.
After receiving the news, the veterinary staff of Anh Son district inspected the pigs and took samples to the Veterinary Department of Region III for testing. The test results showed that the dead pigs at Mr. Ky's family were positive for African swine fever.

It is known that Mr. Ky's family's farm is located next to the Anh Son town landfill. The pigs are raised by Mr. Ky's family in a free-range manner right in the waste disposal area, so it is very likely that the disease comes from the source of people's household waste.
Immediately after detecting and testing the pigs positive for African swine fever, Anh Son district proceeded to destroy the entire pig herd at the household with the diseased cattle, including 28 pigs, weighing 1,383 kg. At the same time, increased lime sprinkling and chemical spraying to prevent the spread of the disease...

Anh Son district has 57,600 pigs, mainly concentrated in 21 large farms and hundreds of large and small farms in the area. Before the outbreak, Anh Son district provided over 400 liters of chemicals to 21 communes and towns to prevent the disease. Immediately after the outbreak was detected, the district continued to provide 400 liters for emergency epidemic prevention work.
Currently, Anh Son district is setting up two checkpoints at both ends of the district, strengthening disease surveillance in the area, strictly prohibiting the trading, slaughtering, and transportation of pigs and pig products in and out of the epidemic area...
