Director of the Hanoi Department of Health Nguyen Khac Hien said the epidemic situation is very complicated. It is forecasted that in the coming days, there may continue to be new cases recorded because the 17th patient with Covid-19 had lived at his place of residence and had contact with some relatives upon returning home.
In particular, people who are in close contact with the patient travel to many places. In addition, passengers on the same flight as the patient are also at high risk of infection and continue to infect other contacts.
Therefore, Hanoi continues to propagate and fully publicize information so that people know and proactively go to medical facilities when showing symptoms of the disease and self-isolate when at risk; at the same time, not to be too panicked about the epidemic.
After the first case of coronavirus infection in Hanoi, Hanoi Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung directed to step up propaganda work so that all people can participate in strictly controlling people entering Vietnam. "Everyone must declare their health, regardless of who they are, regardless of whether they are Vietnamese or foreign citizens, they must clearly declare their itinerary," Mr. Chung requested.
According to Mr. Chung, Hanoi is entering a more challenging and difficult phase, with a higher risk of infection as the epidemic has spread to 98 countries. “Among them, Hanoi is at the highest risk because citizens of these 98 countries are present in Hanoi. Hanoi citizens traveling or working are all related to European countries, especially countries with high risks such as the UK, France, and Italy,” the city’s Chairman shared.
