Prime Minister appoints Director of Hanoi National University

The Prime Minister signed Decision No. 1209/QD-TTgOn June 30, 2016, Mr. Nguyen Kim Son, Permanent Deputy Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, was appointed as Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU).

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Kim Son

Mr. Nguyen Kim Son was born in 1966 in Tan Trao commune, Kien Thuy district, Hai Phong city.

He received his BA in Literature in 1990 from Hanoi University of Science (now University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU).

PhD in Vietnamese Literature in 1996; postdoctoral research on Confucianism in Vietnam at Harvard University, USA (2007-2008); appointed Associate Professor in 2005.

From November 2009 to May 2010, Mr. Son was Vice Rector, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, and Director of the Center for Chinese Studies.

From January 2012 to February 2016, Mr. Son was Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Deputy Director of VNU; from February 2016 to present, he is Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Permanent Deputy Director of VNU.

Previously, the position of Director of Hanoi National University was held by Associate Professor Dr. Phung Xuan Nha. At the 11th session of the 13th National Assembly, Mr. Nha was approved by the National Assembly as Minister of Education and Training.
