(Baonghean) - Around mid-November 2014, the timber processing line of the Nghe An Wood Processing Plant, built in Nghia Dan, officially began operation, and according to plan, the MDF line will also be operational in early 2015. This is a very significant development, promoting the development of the forest economy in the western region.
After nearly two years of construction, a large-scale wood processing factory has emerged in the Nghia Hoi Industrial Park (Nghia Dan district). Visiting the construction site these days reveals the bustling and urgent atmosphere. The nearly 40-hectare planned area resembles a massive construction site with numerous components being simultaneously built. At the timber processing plant, to meet the production deadline in early November, the investor and contractors are focusing on installing equipment and adjusting machinery; other components such as the foundation piling package, construction and finishing package, infrastructure package, electromechanical package, and installation package are also being urgently constructed at a high pace, reaching nearly 90% completion. According to the project management board's report, the Nghe An MDF wood processing plant has a total investment of over 2,000 billion VND in phase 1, including a lumber production line with a capacity of 10,000 m3/year and an MDF wood processing line with a capacity of 130,000 m3/year. Phase 2 is expected to invest in an MDF wood processing line with a capacity of 270,000 m3/year and plan a raw material area of up to 60,000 hectares.

A key feature of the MDF wood processing plant of Thang Nam Forestry Joint Stock Company is the combination of two technologies: processing lumber and MDF fiberboard. The most valuable parts of the raw wood are processed into lumber, while the remaining parts are processed into wood chips to produce high-quality MDF fiberboard. Using both technologies simultaneously allows the plant to utilize almost all products from the tree. Unlike wood processing technologies used in some countries in Vietnam, where forest growers must remove the bark before selling raw wood to wood chip and pulp production facilities, the MDF plant in Nghe An collects and processes all tree bark, dust, and waste generated during production. This waste is then incinerated to generate additional energy for the production process. As a result, environmental pollution is addressed effectively. The above advantages stem from the investor's selection of the best technology and equipment suppliers in the world, such as: continuous forming, compression and board conditioning equipment from Dieffenbacher (Germany); wood fiberboard production technology equipment from Metso (Sweden); chipping, cleaning and chipping storage technology from Hombak/CMC (Germany); product sanding technology from Steinemann (Germany); and final product cutting technology from Anthon (Germany)...
Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh, General Director of Thang Nam Forestry Joint Stock Company, said: To ensure the progress of operating the lumber processing line in early November and the MDF wood processing line in early 2015, the investor and contractors are currently focusing maximum manpower and equipment on a three-shift construction schedule. The company is also simultaneously implementing labor recruitment and building close relationships between the enterprise and the raw material source area. The biggest concern currently is the issue "outside the factory fence," namely the access road to the factory and the power supply system. According to the investor's calculations, when the factory officially starts operating, there will be over 600 specialized vehicles transporting raw materials and products in and out of the factory daily. If the road does not meet technical requirements, it will cause difficulties in the production process and affect the local environment. At the same time, the Electricity sector's commitment to connecting the power grid to the plant as scheduled (October 30th) is also crucial for the plant's operation to proceed on schedule. Recently, during a working visit to Nghia Dan district and a visit to the plant, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Xuan Duong, directed the Industry and Trade sector and the Transport sector to closely coordinate with the investor and Nghia Dan district to implement the plan for constructing the access road to the plant and the power supply system when the plant begins production.
According to the decision approving the raw material area planning for the Nghe An Wood Processing Plant project by the Provincial People's Committee, the company plans to lease 11,589 hectares of land and implement a joint venture and cooperation model with organizations, businesses, and farmers on an area of 33,424 hectares. The company has signed a consulting contract with TH Raw Material Development Consulting Joint Stock Company to carry out the consulting work on raw material area planning for the factory and has conducted surveys and agreed on the area to be compensated and cleared for land lease for the project, which is 5,068.76 hectares. At the same time, based on Decision No. 3111/QD.UBND-CNTM and 3112/QD.UBND-CNTM approving the dissolution of Youth Volunteer Team 3 and Youth Volunteer Team 6 to transfer them to TH Raw Material Development Consulting Joint Stock Company and TH Dairy Food Company. Youth Volunteer Brigade 3 will transform into TH Raw Material Investment and Development Joint Stock Company in Phu Quy region, and Youth Volunteer Brigade 6 will transform into TH Raw Material Investment and Development Joint Stock Company in Northeast Nghe An region. The controlling shareholder will be Thang Nam Forestry Joint Stock Company, tasked with investing in and developing the raw material area in Phu Quy to supply wood raw materials to the Nghe An Wood Processing Plant. Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh, General Director of the company, added: The company's motto when the factory becomes operational is to strengthen coordination with units, businesses, and farmers in the supply of raw materials; and at the same time, leverage technological advantages to increase the value and efficiency of forest economics for the company's partners.
