Achieving gender equality means empowering women.

(Baonghean.vn) - Strengthening propaganda and education to raise awareness of gender and responsibility for implementing gender equality for all classes of people is a necessary issue today.

That was the purpose of the training conference on the morning of October 16, organized by the Provincial Committee for the Advancement of Women. The conference was attended by 100 members of the Committee for the Advancement of Women at the grassroots level.

Members are informed of the Party and State's policies and regulations on gender equality; knowledge on preventing and responding to gender-based violence; a number of solutions to ensure gender equality, contributing to improving the status of women and reducing the gender gap in a number of fields, sectors, regions and localities with gender inequality or high risk of gender inequality.

Disseminating policies on gender equality, comrade Phan Thanh Doai - Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission, said: "The representative members participating in the training are responsible for advising the Party Committee, government, and the Fatherland Front, identifying gender equality and women's advancement as a regular long-term strategic task of each level and sector."

On the basis of training, strengthen propaganda and education to raise awareness of gender and sense of responsibility for implementing gender equality for officials and people of all walks of life. Condemn and propose measures to overcome the ideology of looking down on women, acts of discrimination, abuse and insult to women's dignity. Strengthen inspection and supervision of the implementation of Party and State policies related to women and gender equality.

Regarding the prevention and response to gender-based violence, the training session disseminated the content of Project 171/KH - UBND on Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence for the period 2017 - 2020 and vision to 2030 in Nghe An province. According to the project, authorities at all levels, sectors and organizations need to develop plans to raise people's awareness of policies and laws related to prevention and response to gender-based violence; deploy support and intervention model services to prevent and reduce gender-based violence.

After the training session, members are responsible for disseminating and advising the government on the implementation of resolutions and projects on gender equality. Ensuring close coordination between government levels and socio-political organizations in implementing gender equality and for the advancement of women.
