The Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee met to assess the situation during the Lunar New Year of the Tiger.

On the afternoon of February 7, on the first working day after the 2022 Lunar New Year holiday, the Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee worked collectively to listen to the results of organizing Tet and reflect information on public opinion, the press and orient the contents after Tet.

Comrade Thai Thanh Quy - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council chaired the meeting.

PEOPLE WELCOME TET HAPPILY AND PEACEFULLY

During the Lunar New Year 2022, the weather in the province is favorable, creating conditions for people to enjoy Spring and celebrate Tet.

Goods preparation for Tet are thoughtful, quality is guaranteed, prices are stable, meeting people's needs for essential goods.

All levels and sectors have paid attention to and taken care of people's lives, ensuring that all people can enjoy the Spring Festival; well implemented policies for people with meritorious services, social protection, and ensured social security; cared for policy beneficiaries and people in difficult circumstances according to the prescribed policies and regimes. People celebrate the New Year and Spring happily, healthily, safely, and economically.

Accordingly, the State budget at all levels spent nearly 78 billion VND to visit and give Tet gifts to people with revolutionary contributions and social beneficiaries in the province.

Along with that, Nghe An successfully organized the program "Tet for the poor - Nham Dan 2022", through which the whole province received 126 billion VND. Through this socialized source, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels promptly presented Tet gifts to more than 188 thousand households.

The political security situation is basically well ensured, key targets are absolutely protected. Food hygiene and safety are guaranteed, no poisoning has occurred in the province.

COVID-19 INFECTION CASES SUDDENLY INCREASE

Delegates attending the meeting highly agreed with the above comments and assessments; at the same time, they exchanged many opinions surrounding the sudden increase in the number of Covid-19 infections on February 6 and 7.

Data from the Nghe An Department of Health shows that from January 29, 2022 (29th of Tet) to February 6, 2022 (6th of Tet), the epidemic in the province had many complicated developments with a total of 3,162 cases recorded (from January 29 to January 31, 934 cases were recorded, accounting for 29.5%; from February 4 to February 6, 1,683 cases were recorded, accounting for 53.2%).

However, according to Deputy Director of Nghe An Department of Health Tran Minh Tue, the number of Covid-19 cases recently has been mainly asymptomatic; the number of severe and critical cases accounts for a very low percentage.

The proof is that out of a total of 3,330Of the cases being treated, 2,141 are being treated at home, 905 are being treated at district-level treatment facilities; only 137 are being treated at field hospitals and 75 are being treated at the Tropical Disease Center.

According to the leader of Nghe An Department of Health, one of the reasons for the increasing number of infections at the end of the year is the increase in the number of people returning to the province from epidemic areas and the high infection rate. According to statistics from the recent Tet holiday until February 6, about 20% of people infected with Covid-19 were people returning from other localities.

Another reason for the increase in the figures is that in the last 3 days of the holiday, people's need to get tested to return to work increased; a number of cases began to show symptoms and were recorded due to exposure to sources of infection in the community before and during Tet.

In response to the above developments, on the morning of February 7, the Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control of Nghe An province issued a dispatch directing localities, levels and sectors to deploy a number of measures to rectify epidemic prevention and control work.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung said: The Provincial Covid-19 Prevention and Control Command Center will hold a meeting to review the situation and deploy further epidemic prevention and control measures in the area; at the same time, he requested the whole province to focus highly on the spring vaccination campaign.

Regarding the organization of students returning to school, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that he has requested the Health sector to coordinate with the Education sector, Party committees and local authorities to implement measures to control the epidemic in schools, with the goal of ensuring maximum safety for students when going to school in person.

Regarding the general direction, the head of Nghe An province government emphasized that immediately after the Lunar New Year holiday, it is necessary to get to work immediately, not letting the idea of ​​celebrating Tet and enjoying Spring prolong.

MUST RE-ENHANCE EPIDEMIC PREVENTION AND CONTROL WORK

Concluding the meeting, Nghe An Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy emphasized a number of key tasks right after the Lunar New Year holiday.

In particular, the development of the Covid-19 epidemic in recent days, although according to the assessment of the health sector, the majority of cases are asymptomatic, but according to the Provincial Party Secretary, we should not be subjective because of that. Because the number of people infected with Covid-19 is increasing, it has had profound impacts on socio-economic activities, labor, study, and production due to treatment and quarantine.

Therefore, in order to both effectively prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic and ensure socio-economic development activities, the head of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee requested to immediately re-energize the spirit of the Steering Committee, the Covid-19 Prevention and Control Command Center at the provincial and all levels in the province; promote the role of the community Covid team to monitor at the grassroots level.

Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy requested that it is necessary to conduct a serious, complete, and accurate assessment of the epidemic's developments in each locality in order to have appropriate solutions to prevent the epidemic from spreading.

The Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department also needs to restart extensive and strong propaganda work with the view that the content on Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control such as: implementing 5K, methods of treating F0 at home, isolating F1... needs to be concise and easy to understand to urge spirit and awareness; improve knowledge of epidemic prevention and control among the people.

Regarding the issue of students returning to school, the head of the Provincial Party Committee requested to ensure safety, follow procedures, and handle any Covid-19 infection cases that occur in schools; in particular, it is necessary to do a good job of propagating these contents to students, parents, and teachers.

The Provincial Party Secretary requested to actively carry out the spring vaccination campaign; pay attention to disease prevention and control on crops and livestock; focus on accelerating public investment disbursement, promoting production, implementing key tasks of the year right from the beginning of the year such as preparing to summarize Resolution 26 of the Politburo on directions and tasks for the development of Nghe An province... and well prepare for military transfer and reception, ensuring correctness, adequacy and safety.

Emphasizing the determination to carry out the tasks in 2022 with better results than in 2021, the Provincial Party Secretary requested all levels, sectors and the political system of the whole province to immediately get to work with a determined spirit; not to let the mindset of celebrating Tet and enjoying Spring last even after the Tet holiday, affecting work efficiency.
