Hydropower in Nghe An increases flood discharge

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of September 29, the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense announced the operation and regulation of water at the reservoirs of Ban Ang Hydropower Plant, Tuong Duong District; Chi Khe Hydropower Plant, Con Cuong District.

The Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense has received Notice No. 13/2022/TB-CT dated September 29, 2022 from Chi Khe Hydropower Plant on the operation of increasing the flood discharge flow of Chi Khe Hydropower Plant's reservoir. Accordingly, due to the impact of the circulation of storm No. 4, there is very heavy rain in the basin of Chi Khe Hydropower Reservoir, the flow to the reservoir is tending to increase rapidly.

To ensure the safe operation of Chi Khe Hydropower Plant's reservoir in accordance with the approved single-reservoir process and inter-reservoir process on the Ca River basin, Chi Khe Hydropower Plant plans to operate flood discharge through generators and spillway gates with discharge flow equivalent to the flow to the reservoir to maintain the water level at the normal water level elevation of 38.00m, specifically as follows:

1.Estimated time of spillway discharge:At 9:00 a.m., September 29, 2022.

2.Discharge flow:Total discharge volume is approximately 520 m3/s to 1600 m3/s (including through the spillway and generation through the generators) and may vary depending on the water flow to the lake.

3.Time to end water discharge through spillway:Until the water flow to the lake drops below 520 m3/S.

The Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense has also received Notice No. 07/TB-NMNN dated September 29, 2022 from Nam Mo and Nam Non Hydropower Joint Stock Company regarding the discharge of water from Ban Ang Hydropower Reservoir due to the increasing flow to the reservoir.

To ensure the safe operation of water discharge from Ban Ang Hydropower Reservoir in accordance with the approved single-reservoir and inter-reservoir procedures on the Ca River basin and the hydrological situation at the project, Nam Mo and Nam Non Hydropower Joint Stock Company plans to discharge water from Ban Ang Hydropower Reservoir as follows:

1- Estimated time of water discharge:11:30 a.m., September 29, 2022.

2- Discharge flow:Total discharge is expected to be approximately 200m3/s to 500m3/s (including discharge through spillway gates and generator sets).

Estimated time to end water discharge through spillway:Until the water flow to the lake drops below 189.6 m3/S.

The Standing Office of the Provincial Command for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense informs the People's Committees of the districts: Tuong Duong, Con Cuong, Anh Son, Do Luong, Thanh Chuong, Nam Dan, Hung Nguyen and Vinh city; Heads of provincial Departments, Boards and Branches; Department of Road Management II to inform the authorities at all levels, agencies, units, investors who are constructing along the river, on the river, owners of water transport vehicles and all people in the area downstream of Chi Khe Hydropower Plant to know and deploy necessary work, ensuring the safety of life and property of the State and the people.
