(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An Newspaper had a conversation with Dr. Vu Ngoc Hoang, former member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department on the occasion of the 127th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh.

Chủ tịch Hồ Chí Minh - Vị cha già dân tộc, lãnh tụ thiên tài của cách mạng Việt Nam.
President Ho Chi Minh - The father of the nation, the genius leader of the Vietnamese revolution.

Reporter:President Ho Chi Minh has passed away for nearly half a century, and now, every time his birthday comes, each of us has beautiful feelings. And we often remember the saying, “Thinking about Uncle Ho, my heart becomes brighter.” Do you have the same feeling?

Dr. Vu Ngoc Hoang:“Loving Uncle Ho makes our hearts purer.” If I remember correctly, those were the words of a poet who loved and respected Uncle Ho very much. The first time I read these words was when I was in high school. I was moved at that time. And until now, every time I read them again. A beautiful poem, reflecting the true feelings of the author and many people towards Uncle Ho - who has become one of the symbols of the sacred soul of the country.

Reporter:Can you explain the origin of those beautiful, lasting feelings?

Dr. Vu Ngoc Hoang:That beautiful, lasting sentiment originated from his passionate love for the Vietnamese people and he devoted his whole life to fighting for national independence and caring for the happiness of the people. Without any privacy. Every time, no matter where, one reads his words “I dedicate my life to my people”, almost everyone is moved.

For me, there is another memory. When I was a child, I lived with my grandmother in the American-puppet occupied area in the South. I loved and respected her very much. Every day I heard the government officials call the President of the Republic of Vietnam in the South a leader. One day, when my grandmother was dying, she told everyone to leave the room, leaving me alone. She told me, “The Viet Cong are our people. Ho Chi Minh is the leader of the nation. I am gone, do everything you can to go up the mountain to find him!” After saying that, she breathed her last. Those were the last words before passing away of a heroic Vietnamese mother. And from then on, Ho Chi Minh entered my emotional life and memories. Later, the more I researched his personality and intelligence, the more I respected and loved him.

With a high mountain, the closer you get to it, the bigger it seems, but the further away you get, the less big it seems. But with a truly great person, the opposite is true: the further away you get, and as time passes, the greater the greatness and grandeur of a great personality becomes apparent. Ho Chi Minh is one of the few such cases.

Reporter:President Ho Chi Minh was a genius leader. He mastered the laws of motion, predicted, premonished… many issues, which we can still verify every day. From a scientific perspective, what do you think about this?

Dr. Vu Ngoc Hoang:I found Ho Chi Minh to be an exceptionally intelligent person, as if he was “gifted by God”. He had a very good approach and methodology, a very high capacity for independent thinking, was extremely sensitive to the realities of life, generalized very quickly and understood very deeply the nature of the situation, quickly discovered and grasped the laws of motion of life and society, from which he could predict what was about to happen in the near future, as well as foresee the inevitable problems that would come in the strategic long-term.

Many things Uncle Ho foresaw and predicted a long time ago, more than half a century ago, and now we see that reality reflects exactly that. There are views that he raised, but later on we sometimes do differently, so we are immediately confused, even having to find a way out. We must return to his views! This is a very scientific and also very practical issue.

Reporter:Ho Chi Minh’s values are affirmed to be eternal and everlasting. They have both significance for each period and long-term significance. According to you, in the period of nation building, national defense, integration, especially the 4.0 industrial revolution, what lessons can we still apply to successfully implement?

Dr. Vu Ngoc Hoang:Having Ho Chi Minh is a great blessing for our nation. He left many values for posterity that will last forever. It is a priceless asset. Among them, in my opinion, there are 3 biggest issues, which can also be called lessons for today and posterity.

Firstly, the value of a great cultural personality, the root of which is ETHICS. Devoting himself to the people and the country, dedicating his whole life to national independence and freedom, happiness for the people. His ethics are a real life, through a real life, an exemplary example, full of influence and touching people's hearts, not slogans, empty words. With the goal of "for the people", he fought steadfastly, selflessly, throughout his life, overcoming countless difficulties and dangers, to achieve his goal.

Second, it is the issue of PEOPLE. Ho Chi Minh’s thought, if summarized, condensed, distilled to the end, until there is only one word, then in my opinion, that word is PEOPLE. People are the purpose, the target to serve, all rights belong to the people, all power belongs to the people, the people are the masters and the people are the masters, we must practice democracy widely and ensure freedom and happiness for the people, we must respect and be polite to the people… People are the soul of the country. The country is the country of the people. The state is the state of the people, to protect and serve the people, established and controlled by the people. All careers are for the people and of the people.

The Party is the “offspring” of the nation, born to serve the people. The Party has no particular purpose. When founding the country, he added the elements “democracy” and “freedom” to the country’s name. He said our country is a democratic country. And democracy is first of all to give the people a voice. After gaining power, he said that if the country is independent but the people are not free and happy, then independence has no meaning. In that sense, I understand that independence is not the ultimate goal, but only a necessary condition, and the ultimate goal must be freedom for the people. Freedom is the greatest happiness. Freedom is the eternal and sacred wish of human beings.

Only freedom liberates all potentials for human development. Human freedom and development is the highest goal of socialism. Without achieving human freedom and development, there can be no socialism, and Uncle Ho's wishes have not been fulfilled. In Uncle Ho's will, he left his last wish for a peaceful, unified, independent, DEMOCRATIC and STRONG Vietnam. Without democracy, there can be no freedom. Without freedom, there can be no development. Without development, it is difficult to maintain national independence in the integration period. Not aiming for DEMOCRACY, STRONGNESS, FREEDOM is a deviation, a path alien to Ho Chi Minh's ideology and socialism.

Third, an example of self-study and real learning, extraordinary, tireless, anytime, anywhere, with the motive and purpose of serving the people, helping the country, helping life, not to become an official, not to study in vain, not for degrees, not to pass exams. With a rare spirit of self-study, combined with a very intelligent and effective approach and self-study, originating from the learner's own, internal needs, Ho Chi Minh became a great intellectual, profound in many fields.

Many issues are big, difficult, and complicated, but he expressed them in a way that is true to their essence, very concise, simple, easy to understand, easy to remember, for everyone. Only a very high level of intellectuals can do that. Today, many countries in the world, including Vietnam, are implementing the process of reforming education, to have a modern and effective education, learning to develop people's capacity, especially the ability to self-study, linking learning with practice, theory with reality, building an open, practical education... are all contents that Ho Chi Minh had implemented long ago. That spirit and method of self-study will forever be a valuable lesson in the era.

Reporter:You are someone who shares and worries about the need for innovation, from innovation in implementing economic policies to models and institutions. So what do you think about the need to innovate in learning methods and promoting Ho Chi Minh's values?

Dr. Vu Ngoc Hoang:I think it is necessary to innovate the way of doing things to be more effective. Studying and promoting the values of Ho Chi Minh should not and cannot be done in a movement style, and even less can it be administrative. This is about building character, about doing culture. Based on Uncle Ho, looking at his example to do culture.

Doing culture is a difficult, but the greatest, most profound and magnificent work in the development process of any nation. Culture is people, life, and the way of life. It is real life, very real, not a performance. Doing culture is to make human values spread widely, through real people, real things, very natural, not forced, passed from one person to another, throughout the community.

Those values permeate each person, stay with them for a long time, and become theirs. That can only be achieved when people feel truly moved and moved. It is not about doing a lot, quantity of work is not efficiency, and if the quality is not achieved, the more work, the more boring it becomes.

Reporter:Thank you Dr. for this insightful and meaningful conversation!
