Seeking opportunities to attract investment from the European Union to Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - In preparation for a new working term in Europe, on the afternoon of April 20, a working delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by Mr. Nguyen Van Thao - Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador of Vietnam to the Kingdom of Belgium, had a working session with Nghe An province.
Also attending the meeting were a number of members who are Vietnamese ambassadors to several European countries.
On the side of Nghe An province, there was comrade Le Ngoc Hoa - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee andrepresentatives of relevant departments and agenciescontinue working with the delegation.

Entering the working session, on behalf of the leaders of Nghe An province, comrade Le Ngoc Hoa - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee warmly welcomedAmbassadorial Delegationcame to survey and work in Nghe An. At the same time, he informed the delegation about some main features of natural, socio-economic andattracting investmentof the province. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee shared: Nghe An has rich potential and a large population, and is in great need of resources for investment and development. In recent times, despite efforts to attract investment, the results have been modest. Therefore, I hope that the Ambassadors will be a bridge to introduce Nghe An, the homeland of President Ho Chi Minh, to international investors and friends so that the province has the opportunity to approach new investors.

On behalf of the Vietnamese delegation to the European Union, Ambassador Nguyen Van Thao discussed and informed the provincial leaders about the requirements and main tasks of the upcoming delegation to the European Union. In the context of the country's increasingly deep international integration, in addition to political diplomacy, economic diplomacy plays a very important role in mobilizing resources for national development.
In an open spirit, Ambassador Nguyen Van Thao raised the issue of effective cooperation withEuropean UnionNghe An province needs to have a specific cooperation plan and roadmap for the delegation to grasp and introduce to the other side. Especially the strategic development orientation of the province; prioritize investment focus in the coming years (in each field of agriculture, processing industry, eco-tourism or environmental protection...)
The European Union has 27 members and a high level of development. In ASEAN, only Vietnam and Singapore have signed an agreement with Europe, but negotiations are very difficult. During this term, the National Assembly and the Government have placed very high demands on Ambassadors when they work abroad, and must consider economic diplomacy as a priority focus to promote economic cooperation and investment between countries in Vietnam.

Receiving additional comments from Ambassadors and representatives of some provincial departments and branches, Ambassador Nguyen Van Thao acknowledged the contents provided by the province but also said that there are many cooperation contents and the province has potential, but Nghe An should focus on investment attraction, especially in the fields of supporting industries, eco-tourism, resorts...

On behalf of the provincial leaders, Comrade Le Ngoc Hoa - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee respectfully received the comments of the Ambassador's delegation and the attention of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the past time. In the coming time, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Foreign Affairs to be the focal point; at the same time, directed the functional departments to complete the capacity profile, connect and keep in contact with the delegation so that when there is information, consultation will be accessed in the most timely manner.
On this occasion, the provincial leaders presented souvenirs and congratulated the Ambassadors on their departure to take up their new duties for the 2021-2023 term, wishing them good health and successful completion of the tasks assigned by the Party and State./.
