Found gold ring, necklace hidden at the bottom of ancient cup
Workers at the Auschwitz Museum in Poland have discovered a gold ring and necklace carefully wrapped in cloth at the bottom of a rusty enamel cup.
According to CNN, the cup was confiscated by the Nazis from refugees at Auschwitz-Birkenau (Poland), one of the largest Nazi concentration camps during World War II.

The two pieces of jewelry were wrapped in cloth and hidden in a secret compartment at the bottom of the cup. They were likely the last possessions of someone deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau by the Nazis, the museum said.
“The hiding of valuables demonstrates two things. One, that the victims were aware of the predatory nature of the deportation. The other, that the refugees hoped that these items would ensure their survival,” said Piotr Cywinski, director of the museum.
Workers stumbled upon the two treasures while cleaning 12,000 antique enameled household items. “The rings and necklaces were carefully hidden, but over time, the material rusted and the second bottom separated from the cup,” said a museum representative.

The ring was dated to 1921-1931. Although the museum has documentation of the items, there is no way to determine the ownership of the two assets.
It is understood that the museum will store the two pieces of jewelry in the way they were discovered to show respect for their history and owners./.
