1- General Secretary and President of Laos pays official friendship visit to Vietnam

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and General Secretary and President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Bounnhang Vorachit reviewed the Guard of Honor of the Vietnam People's Army.

On the morning of December 19, Lao General Secretary and President Bounnhang Vorachith arrived at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, beginning an official friendship visit to Vietnam from December 19-21, at the invitation of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Tran Dai Quang.

The official friendship visit to Vietnam by Lao General Secretary and President Bounnhang Vorachith aims to strengthen the bond and political trust between senior leaders of the two Parties and two countries.

2. Prime Minister attends the 2017 International Economic Integration Forum

On December 20, the Vietnam International Economic Integration Forum 2017 with the theme “Enhancing the driving force for the new development stage” opened in Hanoi. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Head of the National Steering Committee on International Integration; Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue, Head of the Inter-sectoral Steering Committee on International Economic Integration attended.

Speaking at the Forum, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that this is an opportunity for us to continue listening to the opportunities, difficulties and challenges of integration to be more proactive. The Prime Minister suggested that the Inter-sectoral Steering Committee for International Economic Integration should draft a booklet, gathering all the opinions expressed for ministries, branches and localities to study.

At the Forum, the Prime Minister called for and welcomed the support and cooperation of partners and the international community for Vietnam's economic development.

3. Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue attended the 150th anniversary of Phan Boi Chau's birth.

On the morning of December 16, in Vinh City, Nghe An Province held a ceremony to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of patriot Phan Boi Chau and receive the Certificate of Special National Monument for Phan Boi Chau Memorial Site. Attending the ceremony were Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue, Party Central Committee Secretaries: Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission Phan Dinh Trac, Director of the National Academy of Politics Nguyen Xuan Thang, General Director of the Voice of Vietnam Nguyen The Ky, leaders of central ministries and branches and many distinguished guests.

On December 17, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, the Secretariat met under the chairmanship of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, deciding to discipline the Standing Committee of Vinh Phuc Provincial Party Committee and Mr. Pham Van Vong and Mr. Ngo Van Tuan.

Pursuant to Regulation No. 263-QD/TW and Regulation No. 102-QD/TW of the Politburo on disciplinary action against violating Party organizations and Party members, the Secretariat decided to discipline the Standing Committee of Vinh Phuc Provincial Party Committee for the 2010-2015 term with a warning; and to discipline comrade Pham Van Vong by removing him from the position of Provincial Party Secretary for the 2010-2015 term.

Based on the content, nature, level of influence and consequences of the violation, based on Decision 102 of the Politburo on handling violating Party members, the Secretariat decided to discipline comrade Ngo Van Tuan by removing him from all positions in the Party.

5. Former General Director of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group was prosecuted

The Ministry of Public Security reported that one day after issuing the indictment order, on December 20, the Security Investigation Agency served the indictment decisions on Mr. Thuc (63 years old) to investigate the case of intentionally violating the State's regulations on economic management, causing serious consequences. Mr. Thuc was released on bail and was prohibited from leaving his place of residence.

Authorities said that Mr. Thuc was determined to have committed violations in the process of directing the implementation of the Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant project. The prosecution is part of the investigation process of the case of "Intentionally violating State regulations on economic management causing serious consequences; Embezzlement of property", which occurred at PVN and the Vietnam Oil and Gas Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVC).

6.Prosecution of the case of wife killing husband and dismembering body in Binh Duong

Regarding the murder, beheading and dismemberment case in Binh Duong, on December 20, the Investigation Police Agency of Binh Duong Province Police issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and issue a temporary detention order for Hang Thi Hong Diem (32 years old, residing in Hau Giang province, Thuan An town, Binh Duong province) for the crime of "Murder".

The victim was Mr. TTT (37 years old, living in Soc Trang province, Thuan An town, Binh Duong province), Diem's ​​husband.

During the investigation, Binh Duong Provincial Police identified the victim as Mr. TTT and the suspect as Diem, so they arrested him. At the police station, Diem confessed to all of her crimes.
