'Volunteering for beloved juniors' towards ethnic minority areas

(Baonghean.vn) - On August 1, the Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Youth Union organized the peak day program "Volunteering for beloved juniors" at Nam Nhoong Primary and Secondary School with many meaningful activities for ethnic minority children in Nam Nhoong commune, Que Phong district.

The peak day program "Volunteering for beloved juniors" was organized by the Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Youth Union at Nam Nhoong Primary and Secondary School (Que Phong) with activities including: "Connecting knowledge" - supporting 20 sets of computers to equip IT rooms for students in mountainous areas; presenting the project "Reading space for children" worth 20 million VND; presenting 20 gifts to students in difficult circumstances; organizing a program to popularize IT, connecting knowledge for students.

At the program, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union Le Van Luong said that, grasping the message of "3T" including: Pioneer, mutual support and adaptation, the Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Youth Union directed the rapid transformation of forms of organizing volunteer activities. In particular, focusing on solving the legitimate needs of union members and youth and in accordance with the situation of preventing and fighting the Covid-19 epidemic.

To prepare computers to equip IT rooms for students at mountainous schools in general and Nam Nhoong Primary and Secondary School in particular, over the past few months, the Provincial Youth Union has launched the program "Connecting Knowledge" and established "Pink Vacation" volunteer teams in the Provincial Agencies Youth Union and the Provincial Enterprises Youth Union.

Volunteer teams mobilized used computers from agencies, units, and households of officials and civil servants. Then they were handed over to the Green Summer volunteer student team of Vinh University Student Association to check, repair, and install operating systems and basic office software.

In addition to installing computers, the Green Summer volunteer student team of Vinh University of Technical Education Student Association organized a popular IT class for students for 1 week from the peak day.

In the near future, many other highland schools will implement this program, contributing to popularizing IT for children and adolescents in remote and disadvantaged areas.

This time, in order to improve reading culture, help students in mountainous areas have more access to books, and have more space to read books with more interest, the Provincial Youth Union has supported the establishment of a project "Reading space for children" on the basis of renovating the library of Nam Nhoong Primary and Secondary School.

This is part of the Green Library model that has been effectively implemented by the Nghe An Provincial Youth Union Council, establishing many library and reading points on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Team.
