General Secretary and President: Putting national and ethnic interests first

On the morning of August 27, in Hanoi, General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong met with outstanding young party members nationwide studying and following Uncle Ho's teachings, on the occasion of 50 years of implementing Uncle Ho's Testament (1969 - 2019).

Also attending were Politburo members, Party Central Committee Secretaries: Head of the Central Propaganda Department Vo Van Thuong; Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Department Truong Thi Mai; Party Central Committee Secretary, Head of the Party Central Committee Office Nguyen Van Nen; First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee Le Quoc Phong; and 392 outstanding young party members.

The program to meet exemplary young party members studying and following Uncle Ho's teachings is part of the summary of the activity "Vietnamese youth remember Uncle Ho's Testament and follow in his footsteps" launched by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union from January to September 2019.

At the meeting, First Secretary of the Central Youth Union Le Quoc Phong reported to the General Secretary and President on the results of the activity "Vietnamese Youth remembers Uncle Ho's Testament and follows in his footsteps".

Accordingly, after 8 months of implementation, the Youth Union at all levels has carried out many rich, diverse, meaningful and practical activities, attracting the participation of a large number of union members and young people, associated with important historical milestones of the country.

The activity is a tribute, affirming the belief, pride and respect of Vietnamese youth for beloved Uncle Ho, vowing to live, fight, work and study following the example of the great President Ho Chi Minh.

The effectiveness of the campaign is also assessed through the maturity of each member and youth. Through the activities and movements, the Youth Union at all levels has discovered and commended more than 35,000 typical young people and children studying and following Uncle Ho's teachings in all areas of social life.

The 392 young party members present at this meeting are typical examples of studying and following Uncle Ho's teachings, shining examples with positive influence on youth, children and society, worthy of returning to the capital, reporting to Uncle Ho and the Party about the maturity of Vietnamese youth today, ready to continue and accept the responsibility of being the successors to build socialism according to his Will.

Speaking at the meeting, General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong expressed his excitement and joy to meet young party members who came to the capital to report their achievements to Uncle Ho.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the General Secretary and President sent to the exemplary young party members his deep feelings and beliefs, and congratulated them on their achievements.

Welcoming the initiative of the Central Youth Union Secretariat to organize the activity "Vietnamese youth remember Uncle Ho's Testament and follow in his footsteps", the General Secretary and President affirmed that youth is a force that plays a very important role in the process of establishing and operating our Party.

The delegates attending this meeting are both Youth Union officials and members, as well as young party members. In the coming time, the General Secretary and President hopes that young party members will continue to promote the glorious tradition of the Youth Union, as well as perform their tasks better.

The General Secretary and President advised: "To remember Uncle Ho's words and follow in his footsteps, we must not only remember and memorize them, but also let them seep into our blood, hearts, and minds, making them become things we worry about, think about, and worry about, so that we can learn and follow Uncle Ho, live, fight, study, and follow the example of the great Uncle Ho."

That spirit not only needs to be conveyed to all union members, youth, and young party members, but our entire Party and people also need to remember and implement these things.

According to the General Secretary and President, as members of the Youth Union, young people need to be proactive, take the lead, and promote the spirit of "wherever there is a need, there is youth, where there is difficulty, there is youth". Young Party members need to be even more exemplary and pioneering, in line with the role and position of young Vietnamese Party members, worthy of becoming a reliable and powerful reserve force to supplement the leadership source of Party committees at all levels.

Encouraging, advising and guiding young party members to continue striving, cultivating and training according to the teachings of beloved Uncle Ho, the General Secretary and President hopes and assigns the task that among the young party members present today, in the future, there will be many comrades standing in the ranks of the Party Central Committee.

"But don't enter the Central Committee to show off, or enter the Central Committee to gain anything, but enter the Central Committee to sacrifice, strive, contribute, and grow more, to make our Party stronger. Each comrade is a nucleus in the Central Committee," the General Secretary and President emphasized.

Reminding young party members not to be complacent with their achievements and results, the General Secretary and President stated that to be a pioneer and a role model in each field, each party member must have virtue and talent: "Virtue goes hand in hand with talent, but virtue must be the root, virtue must come first. Virtue and talent go hand in hand. Only with virtue can one do righteous and righteous deeds."

Believing that young party members still have many opportunities to contribute, and their duties and responsibilities are still heavy, in order to cultivate virtue, train their talents, and keep their hearts and minds pure and bright, the General Secretary and President advised young party members: "Virtue is loyalty to the Party, to the Fatherland, to the people, putting the interests of the nation and people first, and thinking about the country and the Fatherland in everything you do, don't think about yourself."

As a source of additional development for the Party, a reliable reserve force of the Party, young Party members have the responsibility to continue and promote the achievements of previous generations, become the core of movements, and strive to grow further to contribute to the country.

To do that, party organizations have the responsibility to train and nurture young party members, building a revolutionary generation for the next generation. As a leading force, actively and voluntarily building and protecting the Party, young party members must proactively train and cultivate themselves.

The General Secretary and President assessed that the "Vietnamese Youth Remembers Uncle Ho's Testament and Follows His Footsteps" campaign with its practical activities, specifically the campaign, has great value as a lesson for union members, youth in general and young party members in particular to become more mature. The General Secretary and President believes that the young generation of Vietnam will definitely rise up to not be inferior to previous generations and the youth of advanced countries in the world.

In recognition of the efforts, striving and training in studying and working of young party members, General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong presented flowers to congratulate 392 outstanding young party members nationwide who study and follow Uncle Ho's teachings. At the meeting, 10 young party members represented the delegates to receive flowers and sentiments from the General Secretary and President.
