General Secretary and President: Disciplining senior officials is painful but must be done

In his closing speech at the 11th Central Conference on the afternoon of October 12, General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong reiterated one of the notable contents of the Conference, which was that the Central Executive Committee had considered disciplining Mr. Nguyen Bac Son, former member of the 10th Party Central Committee, former Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, and Mr. Truong Minh Tuan, member of the 12th Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, former Secretary of the Party Personnel Committee, and former Minister of Information and Communications.

The General Secretary and President said that since the beginning of the 12th tenure, the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Central Inspection Commission have disciplined more than 70 senior officials under the Central Committee's management, including 1 Politburo member and 4 members of the 12th Party Central Committee, 14 former members of the Party Central Committee, 1 former Deputy Prime Minister, 5 Ministers and former Ministers, 2 Provincial Party Secretaries, 5 former Provincial Party Secretaries, and 17 generals, of whom some officials have been criminally prosecuted.

The Politburo and Secretariat also disciplined seven party organizations, including the Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Party Committee of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Party Committee of the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Party Committee of the Ministry of Transport, the Standing Committee of the Overseas Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the Da Nang City Party Committee and the Standing Committee of the Vinh Phuc Provincial Party Committee.

"It's painful, but we have to do it, there's no other way! It's all for the common cause of the Party, the country, and the people. This is a profound lesson, a valuable lesson for all of us,"The General Secretary and President emphasized and at the same timeIt is recommended that each member of the Party Central Committee and each cadre, party member, and civil servant regularly cultivate, practice, set an example, self-reflect, self-correct, stay away from material temptations and ambitions to avoid making the same mistakes, causing unpredictable consequences and losses.

The General Secretary and President also stated that we are actively preparing for Party Congresses at all levels towards the 13th National Party Congress, and must resolutely not allow corrupt, degenerate, and corrupt officials to enter the Party Committee! In any case of disciplinary violations, we must strictly handle them from top to bottom to maintain Party discipline, to regain and strengthen the trust, love, and respect of the people./.
