Opening his speech at the ceremony, General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized that solidarity is an extremely precious tradition, creating the invincible strength of our nation, which has been nurtured throughout history, during the process of building and defending the country of our people. The spirit of solidarity is identified as the strategic line of the Vietnamese revolution, the source of strength, the main driving force and the decisive factor ensuring the sustainable victory of the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

Reviewing the glorious journey of the Vietnam National United Front todayVietnam Fatherland Front, General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed that over the past 90 years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, with names and organizational forms appropriate to each stage of the revolution, the Vietnam National United Front has been constantly consolidated, expanded and strengthened. With correct political platforms, policies and slogans, with practical and specific action programs that are in line with the Party's will and the people's wishes, the Front has increasingly gathered people from all walks of life and multiplied the spirit of patriotism and the strength of great solidarity of the people, contributing to the heroic and glorious history of our nation in the Ho Chi Minh era.

"Since its establishment, in any period, the Front has clearly demonstrated and performed its role and position very well, always remaining loyal to its principles and goals of gathering all classes of people into a united bloc of will and action, spirit and strength, creating the great strength of the entire nation to complete the noble revolutionary goals initiated and led by our Party," the General Secretary and President emphasized.

"The history of the birth, operation, development and growth of the Vietnam Fatherland Front over the past 90 years is a glorious history, closely linked to the heroic history of our nation and our Party, contributing to many glorious miracles in the 20th century and early 21st century. Looking back at the past journey of the Vietnam National United Front, it can be affirmed that: The Party's policy of establishing and leading the Vietnam National United Front is completely correct, a creative application of Marxism-Leninism to the specific circumstances of our country. With that unique historical creativity, the Communist Party of Vietnam has affirmed its role in leading society and the country, being closely attached to the people, being absolutely loyal to the nation, being trusted and loved by the people and considering our Party as their own Party. Since then, the Vietnam National United Front has become a solid bridge between the people and the Party and the State, which no force can separate", General Secretary and President of the State clearly stated.

Close to the people, towards the grassroots

Entering a new phase, the General Secretary and President said that currently, the world and regional situation is still undergoing rapid, complex and unpredictable developments; In addition to the fundamental advantages, our country must face many difficulties and challenges. The state of degradation in ideology, politics, ethics, lifestyle, manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" of a number of cadres and party members, and the evils of bureaucracy, corruption and waste are risks that cause instability, impact people's trust in the leadership of the Party and the management of the State, and impact the great national unity bloc. Hostile forces continue to intensify their sabotage against the Party, the State and our country; these are huge challenges for our country in the coming time.

Therefore, the General Secretary and President requested that in the coming time, the Vietnam Fatherland Front needs to continue to build and strengthen the great national unity bloc, widely gather all classes of people, ensure high unity in ideology and action, firmly pursue the goal of national independence and socialism, resolutely and persistently protect and maintain national independence and sovereignty, maintain political and social stability, build an increasingly prosperous and civilized country; the people have a prosperous and happy life.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front needs to thoroughly grasp the guiding viewpoint that the revolution is the cause of the people, by the people, for the people, and it is the people who create great victories of historical significance. President Ho Chi Minh taught: "Great national unity is not only the primary goal and task of the Party but also the primary goal and task of the entire nation". Great national unity is a strategic policy, of vital significance, deciding the success or failure of the revolution, and is the red thread running through the revolutionary strategy of our Party.

As a vivid symbol of the ideology of national unity and solidarity, the Fatherland Front needs to mobilize and promote better the role of solidarity among all classes, highlighting the role of outstanding individuals among compatriots, ethnic groups, religions, and overseas Vietnamese. Pay attention to the thoughts, aspirations and practical interests of each class of people, create all favorable conditions for people to promote their creativity and actively contribute to the common cause.

The Front at all levels needs to promote democracy, the spirit of friendship, exchange, discussion, ensuring equality, respect, and mutual understanding; eliminate inferiority complex and prejudice about the past, components, and classes; accept differences that do not go against the common interests of the nation so that the Front at all levels can truly be the center of solidarity, gathering all social forces, contributing intelligence and efforts to the cause of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.

Along with the extensive and effective implementation of patriotic emulation movements and campaigns, the General Secretary and President also requested the Fatherland Front to continue to play a good role in presiding over consultations and coordination among member organizations in implementing social supervision and criticism; maximize the intelligence of scientists and experienced experts, contributing opinions to the Party's policies and guidelines and those of local Party committees and authorities, especially on national and people's livelihood issues, directly related to the rights and legitimate interests of the masses.

We must do a better job of gathering and listening to people's opinions to reflect them to Party and State agencies at the central and local levels. We must proactively coordinate with the government to effectively resolve pressing social issues at the grassroots level, contributing to ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of the people. We must always dialogue, listen, learn, accept opinions, resolve difficulties, problems and legitimate requests of the people; trust and respect the people; at the same time, promote the people's mastery through the Fatherland Front and mass organizations.

"The Front needs to continue to innovate the content and methods of operation in the direction of being close to the people, oriented towards the grassroots, truly practical and effective. Pay attention to replicating good examples, criticizing bad work, overcoming formalism. Constantly improve the quality of the staff, first of all the staff working full-time at all levels. At the same time, strengthen the mass mobilization work of the government at all levels; summarize and perfect the coordination regulations between the government and the Vietnam Fatherland Front. Raise awareness and responsibility of cadres, civil servants and public employees about the mass mobilization style: "Respect the people, be close to the people, understand the people, learn from the people and be responsible to the people"; "Listen to the people, speak for the people to understand, make the people believe", truly for the people, serve the interests of the people; at the same time, must do a good job of propaganda, education, and mobilizing the people to well implement the Party's guidelines and policies; the State's policies and laws; do not deceive the people", the General Secretary and President stated. clear

Emphasizing the strong innovation of the Party's leadership method for the Front, the General Secretary and President requested the Vietnam Fatherland Front to continue to mobilize and promote the role of the people to actively participate in Party building and building an increasingly clean and strong government, creating social consensus; proactively participate more deeply, comprehensively and effectively and encourage the people to actively participate in the work of preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity. The Front must be the nucleus in protecting the Party's ideological foundation, in preventing and combating the plots and activities of "peaceful evolution" by hostile forces; resolutely fight against wrong, reactionary and opportunistic political views aimed at sabotaging and dividing the great national unity bloc.

The 90th anniversary of the founding of the National United Front comes at a time when our entire Party and people are getting very close to the 13th National Congress of the Party - a major political event, opening a new period of development for the country.
