In the letter to President of the United States Donald Trump, General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong wrote: “Over the past 25 years, the Vietnam-US bilateral relationship has overcome geographical distance and differences to develop positively and stably, making the US a leading partner of Vietnam in many fields. In recent years, the two countries have actively and effectively coordinated, focusing on removing obstacles, especially in trade and financial relations, gradually consolidating and expanding the Comprehensive Partnership on the basis of respecting the United Nations Charter, international law, political institutions, independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of each other. Vietnam believes that, with the spirit of putting the past behind, overcoming differences, promoting similarities, and looking towards the future, the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Partnership will increasingly deepen, become more effective, and sustainable, serving the interests of the people of the two countries and contributing to security, peace and prosperity in the region and the world. gender".
