General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong receives Chairman of Iran's Parliament

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani sincerely thanked the leaders of the Party, State, National Assembly and people of Vietnam for the warm welcome given to the delegation.

Mr. Ali Larijani expressed his deep admiration for President Ho Chi Minh and the Vietnamese people in their struggle for national independence and freedom.

The Iranian Parliament Chairman highly appreciated Vietnam's achievements and role in the region and the world, and believed that under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnamese people will gain even greater victories in the cause of national construction, protection and development.

The Iranian Parliament Speaker informed the General Secretary about some aspects of the situation in Iran and the region; and the results of working with Vietnamese leaders.

Mr. Ali Larijani affirmed his desire and determination to promote the friendly and cooperative relations between the two National Assemblies, States and peoples of Vietnam and Iran.

Mr. Ali Larijani suggested that both sides continue to promote and take advantage of the great opportunities and potentials to promote cooperation and development in the coming time. In particular, Iran is ready to cooperate with Vietnam in the fields of petrochemicals, mining, tourism, aviation, pharmaceuticals, security, defense, banking, etc.

The General Secretary congratulated the Iranian people on their success in political stability, socio-economic development and strengthening Iran's position in the region and the world; and was pleased that the Vietnam-Iran relationship is constantly being consolidated and developed.

The General Secretary affirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam are steadfast in their foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development, diversification and multilateralization in foreign relations, on the basis of fundamental principles of international law, equality and mutual benefit.

The General Secretary wished to promote the traditional friendly cooperation with Iran; suggested that the two countries should further promote economic, trade and investment relations commensurate with the strengths and great potential of each side; continue to coordinate more closely at regional and international forums; promote delegation exchanges at all levels and cultural, sports, education - training and tourism exchange activities, bringing practical results to both countries, for the benefit of the people of Vietnam and Iran, contributing to peace and development in the region and the world.
