Hue City plans to build 22 resettlement areas with a total cost of about 1,400 billion VND, starting on August 19 under the direction of the Prime Minister.

Ms. Vo Thi Que Huong, Deputy Director of the City Department of Finance, said that according to the design, the North-South high-speed railway line through Hue is 95.08 km long. The city plans to reclaim 825 hectares of land, affecting more than 8,100 households, of which nearly 900 households will be resettled.

To ensure resettlement for people to stabilize their lives soon, the city will build 22 resettlement areas and 6 cemeteries with a total estimated cost of about 1,400 billion VND.

According to Ms. Huong, communes and wards are reviewing the area where the North-South high-speed railway passes through to propose appropriate compensation plans. Hue City plans to invest and start construction of a number of resettlement areas on August 19 under the direction of the Prime Minister.

Mr. Le Cong Dien, Deputy Director of Hue City Department of Construction, added that the route plan, location and scale of the station and maintenance station of the high-speed railway project passing through the city have been basically determined.

Of which, Hue station is expected to be located in My Thuong ward and Chan May station is located in Chan May - Lang Co commune. Because the route mainly passes through the plain area, it will have little impact on houses and historical relics of the city.

The North-South high-speed railway project was approved by the National Assembly in November 2024 with a total preliminary capital of about 1.7 million billion VND (equivalent to 67 billion USD).

The 1,541 km long route, 1,435 mm double gauge, designed speed of 350 km/h, has 23 passenger stations and 5 freight stations, passing through 20 provinces and cities from Ngoc Hoi (Hanoi) to Thu Thiem (HCMC).

In addition to the form of public investment, the project is allowed by the National Assembly to be implemented in the form of public-private partnership (PPP) or business investment, creating conditions to attract diverse capital sources to implement this national key project.
