(Baonghean.vn) - The city has developed an emergency response plan scenario including two scenarios: Prevention when African swine fever has not yet invaded and handling the disease when it is detected in the city.

On the afternoon of March 6, Vinh City People's Committee held a meeting to deploy an action plan to respond to the emergency of African swine fever in the city.

To proactively prevent, monitor, detect early, and be ready to respond promptly and effectively to African swine fever, Vinh City has developed an emergency response plan scenario including 2 scenarios: Prevention when African swine fever has not yet invaded Vinh City and handling African swine fever when detected in the city. At the same time, 1 quarantine checkpoint and 2 interdisciplinary mobile working groups have been established to control the transportation of animals and animal products, and prevent African swine fever in the city...

At the meeting, opinions were discussed around the implementation of emergency response measures to African swine fever such as: Mobilizing the entire political system to focus on disease prevention when the disease has not yet spread and when the disease occurs in the area. Strengthening propaganda work on disease developments, prevention and treatment when there is an epidemic. In addition to the city's interdisciplinary teams, wards and communes established working groups to strengthen inspection and control of pig farming, trading, and transportation of pigs and pig products.

African swine fever is a dangerous infectious disease caused by a virus in pigs. The disease causes high fever, severe bleeding and can kill 100% of infected pigs; there is currently no vaccine or specific medicine to treat this disease.
