Hundreds of people stay up all night to save the vital dike in Phu Tho
The rising water level on the Lo River in recent days has seriously threatened the protective dike system of Phu Tho province.
The Lo River dike runs along the river from Doan Hung district through Phu Ninh district and to Viet Tri city.
Since the morning of September 11, in Trung Dau area (Binh Phu commune, Phu Ninh district), authorities have discovered water seeping through the foot of the dike. At first, there were only small veins, then new veins appeared.
Similar situations have appeared at dike locations in Phu My and Tri Quan communes.

According to preliminary statistics, in 7 communes along the Lo River in Phu Ninh District, there are over 5,000 households living inside and outside the dike. Up to now, more than 700 households threatened by floodwaters have had to be urgently evacuated to safe locations.

In Phu My commune, from early morning on September 11 until night, many machinery and equipment were mobilized along with materials to reinforce and prevent floodwater from overflowing the dike. Equipment, human resources, and materials are still being reinforced to soon complete the workload.

Mr. Nguyen Phuc Suyen - Head of the Department of Agriculture of Phu Ninh district said that about 500m of dike in Phu My commune will be filled with soil and sand to prevent overflow with a height of 0.5 - 1.2 m. The estimated implementation time is about 1 day.

Currently, although it is dark and raining heavily, the authorities and hundreds of people in Phu My commune are still working hard to dig soil and load sand to reinforce the dike. Everyone is working together to repair and protect the vital dike.
