Handing over the decision to transfer and appoint the Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper
The Politburo has just issued Decision No. 86-QDNS/TW to transfer and assign Mr. Le Quoc Minh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Party Secretary, Deputy General Director of VNA, to hold the position of Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper.
On the morning of May 20, Nhan Dan Newspaper held a conference to implement the Politburo's decision on personnel work. At the conference, Party Central Committee Secretary and Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia presented the Politburo's decision assigning Mr. Le Quoc Minh - Party Central Committee member, Party Committee Secretary, Deputy General Director of VNA, to hold the position of Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper.

Previously, on April 29, 2021, the Politburo issued Decision No. 86-QDNS/TW to transfer and assign Mr. Le Quoc Minh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Party Secretary, Deputy General Director of VNA, to cease holding the position of Deputy General Director of VNA to be appointed as Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper.
Mr. Le Quoc Minh was born on December 1, 1969, hometown in Dien Yen commune, Dien Chau district, Nghe An province.
He graduated from Hanoi University of Foreign Languages, majoring in English in 1990; graduated from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) with a major in Journalism in 1995.
Mr. Le Quoc Minh started his journalism career as editor of the World News Editorial Board of VNA in 1990.
In 1996, after graduating from university with a major in journalism, he was assigned to work in Japan as a Humanities Specialist and Vietnamese Language Specialist for NHK World Japan Radio.
In 2000, he returned to Vietnam and continued working at VNA.
In 2002, he worked at the Foreign News Editorial Board and was one of the first people to build a foreign information website for VNA.
In 2008, he was appointed Editor-in-Chief of VietnamPlus, the official online newspaper of VNA in five languages: Vietnamese, English, French, Spanish and Chinese.
As Editor-in-Chief of VietnamPlus, he contributed to bringing many new media technologies into VietnamPlus's journalism activities, as well as a series of projects combining content, technology and commerce for digital platforms, especially mobile.
Among the many creative journalism projects initiated by him are a rap music newsletter called RapNewsPlus to bring news to young people, which began in November 2013; and a graphic information project that began in 2004. RapNewsPlus won the first prize in the Digital First category at the World Young Readers' Awards, an annual award by the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) in 2014.
Under the leadership of Mr. Le Quoc Minh, the VietnamPlus e-newspaper has also coordinated with the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese to launch and develop the website vietkieu.info; coordinated with the Department of Foreign Information, Ministry of Information and Communications to launch the website Viet-Phap - the first official website focusing on introducing the relationship between Vietnam and another country... At the same time, VietnamPlus also coordinated with many localities, ministries and branches to implement information pages including both content and technology.
In 2018, VietnamPlus e-newspaper launched a chatbot product, becoming the first official press agency in Vietnam to use a chatbot to connect with readers. This product won the OANA award for excellence in news quality, presented at the 17th General Assembly.
With its achievements, VietnamPlus under the leadership of Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh was awarded the Second Class Labor Medal (2018); Third Class Labor Medal (2013); Government Emulation Flag (2010, 2012, 2016); Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister (2011).
VietnamPlus is considered one of the pioneering press units in Vietnam in new media technologies, including mobile journalism, data journalism, social journalism, news through games (News Game), 360-degree photos/videos, flycam, mega-story.
On November 17, 2017, Mr. Le Quoc Minh was appointed by the Prime Minister to the position of Deputy General Director of VNA.
As Deputy General Director, Mr. Le Quoc Minh has made many contributions to the activities of VNA, especially projects and initiatives to enhance modern information products and enhance the position of the unit.
He is also the initiator of the project "Say No to Fake News" to train anti-fake news skills for students from primary to high school, starting from the end of 2019, deployed in many provinces and cities across the country such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hai Phong, Dong Thap, Can Tho.
By the end of 2020, the VNA project called “The fight against fake news - Creative ideas and effective solutions,” with three components: Anti-Fake News song in 15 languages; Factcheckvn account on TikTok social network targeting young people; “Say No to Fake News Project” won the Best Project for News Literacy category within the framework of the WAN-IFRA Digital Media Awards Asia 2020.
In addition, the Factcheckvn information channel on the TikTok platform was also honored as a social impact information channel, one of 11 awards of TikTok Awards Vietnam 2020.
At the 26th Congress of the Party Committee of Vietnam News Agency held on August 13-14, 2020, Mr. Le Quoc Minh was elected to hold the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of Vietnam News Agency for the 2020-2025 term.
Not only contributing to the journalism activities of VNA, Mr. Le Quoc Minh is also the founder of the journalism forum Vietnamjournalism.com in 2004 and has maintained the annual scholarship awarding to journalism students continuously until now.
He is also a regular lecturer for journalism training programs of the Vietnam Journalists Association and the Press Department under the Ministry of Information and Communications, a regional expert of the World Association of Journalists (WAN-IFRA); and has been a speaker many times at world journalism conferences and seminars.
At the 13th Congress of the Party Committee of the Central Agencies Bloc, term 2020-2025, taking place from October 27 to 29, 2020, he was elected as a member of the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of the Central Agencies Bloc, term XIII.
At the 13th National Party Congress, taking place from January 25 to February 1, 2021, Mr. Le Quoc Minh was elected to the 13th Party Central Committee.
