Implementing a model of students working as tour guides at historical sites in Hoang Mai town
The model of students working as tour guides at relics, combined with local history education programs at schools, has been effectively implemented by Hoang Mai town.
New way
Coming to Hoang Mai town, visiting historical sites which are red addresses for traditional education or spiritual historical sites in this locality, many tourist groups are very excited and surprised when having students as tour guides.
This good way combines the local history education program in schools, with the promotion of abundant human resources, which are local students, to help tourists understand more about historical sites, in the conditions of human resources, as well as tourism activities in Hoang Mai town, which are still lacking...

Students acting as tour guides for historical sites is one of the topics that Hoang Mai town is interested in directing. To implement this content, the Youth Union and schools in Hoang Mai town are responsible for propagating and integrating educational programs, introducing historical and cultural sites in the town in accordance with the content of "students participating in learning, caring for and promoting the value of historical and cultural sites in the locality".
Accordingly, each school at the primary, secondary and high school levels organizes competitions to learn about, care for and promote the value of historical and cultural relics. At the same time, each school takes care of a historical, cultural or revolutionary relic site in the locality.

In recent years, the highlight in establishing the model of the propaganda team for the relic of Hoa Tien cave belongs to Quynh Thien Secondary School. Hoa Tien cave is a historical relic - evidence of the sacrifice of 33 young volunteers of the Railway industry in the resistance war against the US to save the country; a tangible epic about a time of bullets, bombs, smoke and fire in a country still considered the fence of the Fatherland, of a period“Quynh Luu battlefield/Mai Giang blood red...”.

Experiencing historical and cultural sites gives students a lot of useful knowledge about tradition, and admiration for the sacrifices of heroes and martyrs to achieve peace and independence today. That is the sentiment of teacher Nguyen Thi Ly - Principal of Quynh Thien Secondary School when she devoted a lot of effort to building and promoting the propaganda team about historical sites in the town. This is also a new model in implementing the local history education program.
To help students through activities contributing to traditional education at the red address of Hoa Tien cave, the school has selected a number of students with presentation skills, as well as knowledge of local history to form a propaganda team about this historical relic for young people and students in the area.
Through the implementation of this model, many tourist groups visiting the town have come to the red address of Hoa Tien cave and shared that it was very interesting to hear a live presentation from the propaganda team.
This achievement sets a new requirement for the town to expand and promote the existing and abundant human resources to not only promote the red address of Hoa Tien cave but also promote many other famous historical relics in the area such as Con temple, Vuc Mau lake eco-tourism area...
Many parents are also very happy when their children experience and directly introduce local historical and cultural relics. This method helps children learn local history proactively, not forced or constrained.

Solving human resource problems
The excitement of being a "tour guide" is the sentiment of Nguyen Phuong Anh - a 10th grade student at Hoang Mai High School. She said that she used to be a member of the propaganda team about historical sites of Quynh Thien Secondary School. She has been introduced many times to propagate at the Hoa Tien Cave Historical Site, Con Temple Relic for tourist groups, former officials of Nghe An Provincial Youth Union, and members of the Party groups of the town...
Although all skills are a process of self-study, experience accumulation, practice and have not undergone any training course on presentation skills, the information about the historical relic of Hoa Tien cave and Con temple relic is conveyed by him coherently, confidently, with the style of a "tour guide".

Hoang Mai town has 75 historical and cultural relics and scenic spots, nearly 80 intangible heritage values that have been researched, managed and ranked, of which there are 6 national relics and 7 provincial relics.
Hopefully, with the implementation of the model of students acting as tour guides at historical sites, there will be many students in the town who will be the core to spread the historical and cultural values of Hoang Mai town to a large number of tourists.
By promoting the propaganda team from local students, Hoang Mai town will also solve the "difficult problem" of the lack of human resources for tour guides at cultural relic sites. Thereby, helping tourists inside and outside the town understand more about the history and culture of the locality rich in revolutionary traditions.
