Breaking up a football betting ring during the 2018 World Cup season
Authorities have just broken up Project BD618, discovering a gambling ring in the form of online football betting with a total amount of nearly 1 billion VND.
The ringleader is Hoang Huu Long (29 years old; residing in village 4, Cam Huy commune, Cam Xuyen, Ha Tinh). The police seized a mobile phone, a laptop, a motorbike and many other items related to football betting from him and at his residence.

At the police station, Long confessed that since the 2018 World Cup finals, he had bought an account on the website Bong88.com (a website specializing in football betting) for 300 million VND.
Checking the phone seized from Long, the Cam Xuyen District Police Department determined that during the match between the French and Belgian teams in the early morning of July 11, 2018, he received football betting bets from 10 gamblers for more than 80 million VND.

Continuing to expand the investigation of the case, the police agency determined that from July 3, 2018 until the time of his arrest, Long had received football betting bets from about 18 gamblers with a total amount of 850 million VND.
