Busting a large-scale fake Thai fabric softener factory

A factory of a company in Hanoi produces fake fabric softener and dishwashing liquid but all have labels and barcodes of Thai origin.

On October 15, Hanoi City Police said they had just coordinated with the city's market management force to destroy a large-scale, especially serious fake fabric softener factory in the area.

This fake fabric softener factory of Massco International Joint Stock Company is located at S5/9 Trieu Khuc craft village industrial cluster, Tam Trieu, Hanoi.

According to the police, at about 9:15 a.m. on October 14, the interdisciplinary inspection force, including the Economic Security Department - Hanoi Police, in coordination with Market Management Team No. 13 - Hanoi Market Management Department, conducted a surprise inspection of the above-mentioned production workshop and discovered truck 29C-494.83, loading cardboard boxes containing Spy brand fabric softener bottles with signs of violations.

During an inspection of the factory, authorities discovered that the company's workers were producing Spy brand fabric softener, Safe brand dishwashing liquid, and Baby fabric softener, but all had labels and barcodes indicating they were made in Thailand.

Next, at the office of the Board of Directors of Massco International Joint Stock Company, the authorities seized nearly 30 seals with the names of districts in Hanoi and other provinces and cities such as: Gia Lam district, Phu Xuyen district, Dong Anh district - Hanoi, Ha Nam province, Nam Dinh, Nghe An, Hoa Binh...

Deputy Director of Massco International Joint Stock Company, Nguyen Manh Cuong (also Director of An Phuc Joint Stock Company), said that the director of this company is Nguyen Manh Thuong.

Cuong admitted to the wrongdoing in using trademarks and barcodes of Thai origin to attach to products manufactured by the company. At the same time, he admitted that on average, every day, Massco Company released to the market nearly 3,000 bottles of fake fabric softener and dishwashing liquid of Thai origin with the brands Spy, Safy, Baby.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Ly, Deputy Head of Team 6, Economic Security Department - Hanoi Police said: After being hidden, the fake fabric softener products will be imported by An Phuc Joint Stock Company and then brought to the market for consumption.

Fabric softener and dishwashing liquid products of Spy, Safy, Baby brands manufactured by Massco are all counterfeit. The brand names and barcodes are all counterfeited and pasted onto the products by the company.

This is a particularly serious and large-scale counterfeiting case, therefore, the interdisciplinary functional force will conduct a review in all provinces and cities nationwide and will strictly handle the counterfeiting production of Massco International Joint Stock Company and the counterfeit goods import and distribution company of An Phuc Joint Stock Company.
