"All of Japan's islands may be buried under the sea if it recklessly acts as a lackey of the US plot and war moves to escalate the confrontation with the DPRK while following Trump's hysterical remarks," the Korea-Asia-Pacific Peace Committee said in a statement on October 28, according to KCNA.

According to Japan Today, North Korea may be referring to US President Trump's visit to Japan on November 5 as part of his Asia tour. White House officials said North Korea is one of the key issues of the trip.

The North's commission also said that during the campaign before the October 22 election, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) "launched a hysterical anti-Pyongyang plot, exaggerating the story of the nuclear threat from North Korea."

The LDP and its coalition partner won a landslide victory last week, winning 284 of the 465 seats in the lower house, a two-thirds majority. During the election campaign, Mr. Abe focused on Japan’s security concerns as North Korea continues to test nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles. North Korea last launched a missile in mid-September, when it flew over Japan and landed in the Pacific Ocean.

"Mr. Abe and his party should know that they are playing a dangerous gamble with the future of the country and the fate of the people at stake," the North Korean statement said.
