For nearly a month, the hot weather has created favorable conditions for salt farmers in An Hoa, Quynh Thuan, Quynh Tho, Quynh Minh communes... (Quynh Luu district, Nghe An) to produce salt. Local people said that at this time, the price of salt purchased by traders is 1,300 VND/kg (200 VND/kg lower than the beginning of the season), however, compared to last year, this price is still higher and stable.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Noi (65 years old) in Thang Loi village, An Hoa commune said: With the salt purchase price of 1,300 VND/kg, people have income. On average, a household has 20-30 salt plots, if the sun is strong, it can produce 2-3 quintals, earning from 250,000 - 400,000 VND/day. Her family has 24 salt plots, producing 2 quintals of salt each day, earning about 250,000 VND/day.

To make salt, salt workers have to go through many steps such as raking sand, sweeping water onto the beach, then scooping sand into a settling tank to filter the water to make salt. If the weather is sunny, scooping water into the tank early in the morning will give salt to harvest in the afternoon.
In recent years, with the support policy of the State, Quynh Luu salt farmers have applied tarpaulin salt production on an area of 15 hectares in An Hoa commune. With this production method, productivity will increase by 10% per unit area, and increase by 2-3 prices compared to salt made in the traditional way.
