Solemn 75th Anniversary Ceremony of Vietnam Forestry Industry
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 1, in Vinh City, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with the People's Committee of Nghe An province to organize the 75th anniversary of the establishment and development of the Vietnamese Forestry sector.
Attending the ceremony, on the Central side were comrades: Nong Duc Manh - former General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam; Tran Quoc Vuong - Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat; Trinh Dinh Dung - Deputy Prime Minister; Nguyen Xuan Cuong - Party Central Committee member, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development; Nguyen Chi Dung - Party Central Committee member, Minister of Planning and Investment; Nguyen Dac Vinh - Party Central Committee member, Deputy Chief of the Party Central Committee Office; Nguyen The Ky - Party Central Committee member, General Director of the Voice of Vietnam; representatives of the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam Cooperative Alliance, Vietnam Farmers' Association; Ministry of Public Security, Border Guard Command; former leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Thai Thanh Quy - Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Van Thong - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Hoang Nghia Hieu - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
Also attending were representatives of the leaders of the provinces: Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Nam Dinh, Quang Binh, Thua Thien Hue; Binh Dinh, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Lai, who was twice awarded the title of Labor Hero of the forestry sector.

75 YEARS OF KEEPING THE COUNTRY GREEN
At the Ceremony, on behalf of the Organizing Committee, Permanent Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Ha Cong Tuan read the congratulatory letter of General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong on the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of the Vietnam Forestry Sector.
In the letter, the General Secretary and President cordially sent to all cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of the entire industry through all periods his warmest feelings and best wishes, and at the same time acknowledged the important contributions to the socio-economic development of the country through previous historical periods, as well as in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland today of the industry.

The country is entering a new period of development, facing the requirements of socio-economic development associated with environmental and ecological protection, responding to climate change, the task of the sector is heavy but also very glorious. Therefore, the General Secretary and President hopes and believes that all cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of the Vietnam Forestry sector will continue to promote the achievements, unite, join hands, be unanimous, innovate and be creative, perform well their tasks and responsibilities, build the Vietnam Forestry sector to develop more and more; imbue and implement well the teaching of beloved Uncle Ho: "Forests are gold, if we know how to protect and build them, they are very precious".
In his opening speech at the ceremony, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong said that 75 years ago, right after the Democratic Republic of Vietnam was founded, on December 1, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh signed Decree No. 69, establishing the Ministry of Agriculture. Also on this day, the Ministry of Agriculture issued Decree No. 01 on the organization of the Ministry of Agriculture, which stipulates the main tasks of the Forestry Department:“Do administrative and professional work on forests and hunting”, the predecessor ofVietnam Revolutionary Forestry IndustryCurrently.

The above success also has the contribution of the entire people's efforts, hard work, creativity, and constant striving together with the acumen of the business community and professional associations. Forestry development is a concentrated expression of the achievements of national innovation, cooperation and support from the international community.
Realizing the common aspiration of Vietnam Forestry in the coming period is“Vietnam's forestry is modern and creative; developing harmoniously and sustainably.botheconomic, social, environmental; has an important position in the socio-economic development of the country”According to the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the immediate future, the sector must focus on reviewing the National Forestry Development Plan and the Sector Development Strategy, along with effectively implementing basic solutions to maintain the forest cover rate at 42%.
Focus on nurturing, restoring, enrichingnatural forest, improve the productivity and quality of planted forests by 20% in 2025, 40% in 2030 compared to present; ensure the source of forest wood materials of about 40 million m32025, 50 million m3By 2030, proactively develop the wood processing industry for export and domestic consumption.

At the same time, establish, manage, protect, develop and sustainably use the land of 3 types of forests planned for forestry; mobilize maximum social resources, revenue from environmental services and forest products, medicinal herbs under the forest canopy will double by 2025, triple by 2030 compared to 2020; the growth rate of forestry production value will be from 5.0% to 5.5%/year, stable until 2030; agricultural, forestry and fishery export turnover will reach 20 billion USD by 2025 and 25 billion USD by 2030.
Thereby, contributing increasingly to socio-economic development, environmental protection, water security, natural disaster mitigation, proactive and effective response to climate change; contributing to hunger eradication and poverty reduction, improving livelihoods for 20 million rural, mountainous and ethnic minority people; contributing to maintaining national defense and security; having a timely project to implement the initiative to plant 1 billion more large and perennial trees due toPrime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuclaunched at the 13th Session of the 14th National Assembly.
BUILDING THE FORESTRY INDUSTRY INTO A SPECIAL ECONOMIC AND TECHNICAL SECTOR
Speaking at the Ceremony, on behalf of the Government and Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung acknowledged, commended and congratulated the achievements of generations of cadres, employees and workers in the forestry sector over the past 75 years.

Entering a new development stage, opportunities and challenges are intertwined, thus posing a heavy burden for the forestry sector. The Deputy Prime Minister requested that the forestry sector continue to promote its traditions and achievements, unite, innovate, and strive to overcome difficulties to complete assigned tasks.
In particular, the Forestry sector needs to focus on restructuring in conjunction with climate change response and environmental protection, in conjunction with specific development conditions of each region and locality, and in conjunction with domestic and international market demand.

In addition, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung requested to focus on forest protection, especially natural forests; improve forest quality to protect the environment, mitigate natural disasters, proactively respond to climate change, provide diverse forest environmental services, contribute to poverty reduction, improve livelihoods for people in rural, mountainous and ethnic minority areas and ensure national defense and security.
Manage, protect, develop and sustainably use land and forests planned for forestry; ensure broad and equal participation of economic sectors and social organizations in forestry activities, maximize social resources and make increasing contributions to the socio-economic development process.
Party committees and authorities at all levels strictly implement resolutions, directives, and directions of the Party and State, and laws on forest management and protection.

“The Forestry sector must proactively advise and propose programs and action plans; coordinate with ministries, departments, sectors and localities to successfully carry out the task of ‘planting 1 billion trees in the next 5 years’ launched by the Prime Minister,” Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung emphasized.
