Trump drops 92 places on list of America's richest people

America's richest people may be getting richer, but President Donald Trump's fortune has dropped by $600 million to $1.3.1 billion USD.

According to the list of 400 billionaires in the United States published by Forbes magazine on October 17, the richest people in America may be getting richer, but President Donald Trump's assets have decreased by 600 million USD to 3.1 billion USD.

French news agency AFP reported that Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, topped the list for the 24th consecutive year, with a fortune of $89 billion, while Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, came in second with $81.5 billion.

US President Donald Trump, ranked 248th, tied with Snap co-founder and CEO Evan Spiegel, 27, the youngest person on the list.

Forbes said the decline in Mr Trump’s net worth was due to a weakening retail and office real estate market in New York, and also because of more information about his assets. Mr Trump was ranked 156th in 2016, when he was elected president.

According to Forbes magazine, the 400 richest people in the US have a total assets worth up to 2.7 trillion USD compared to 2.4 trillion USD in 2016. To be on this list, an individual must have 2 billion USD or more./.
