SLNA center back Que Ngoc Hai becomes vice captain of Vietnam national team for the first time

In the November 4 vote, striker Nguyen Van Quyet was elected by his teammates as captain of the Vietnamese team at the AFF Cup 2018. The Hanoi FC striker had held this role many times under previous coaches of the team. At the 2018 Asian Games, the coach also let his players vote for the executive committee and Van Quyet received absolute support from his teammates.

The two vice-captains of the Vietnam national team are Que Ngoc Hai and Luong Xuan Truong. Previously, Xuan Truong was the captain of the U23 Vietnam team and vice-captain of the national team. As for Que Ngoc Hai, this is the first time he has taken on this responsibility. The central defender from Nghe An has received the trust of his teammates because of his many years of experience in the national team and is currently the leader of SLNA Club.

Previously, on the evening of November 3, Coach Park Hang-seo announced the list of 23 players participating in the AFF Cup 2018. The last two names to be eliminated were midfielder Dinh Thanh Trung and defender Duong Thanh Hao. After hearing the announcement from the Korean coach, the current Vietnamese Golden Ball Thanh Trung decided to retire from the national team.

On the morning of November 5, the Vietnamese team headed to the airport to board a flight to Vientiane to prepare for the opening match against Laos in the group stage of the 2018 AFF Cup. The match took place at 7 p.m. on November 8. Before departure, coach Park Hang-seo said that he and his players would try to solve each match one by one and were determined to repeat the feat of winning the AFF Cup like 10 years ago.
