(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital has just treated an 11-year-old girl who suffered serious eye injuries from making homemade fireworks with matches.

According to information, while his parents were not paying attention, T. (11 years old), residing in Quynh Luu district, scraped the red powder from the tips of the matches and put them in a mortar. While pounding, the match powder suddenly burst into flames and flew into the child's face, causing pain, difficulty in opening, and many burns and ulcers on the skin of the face and right hand.

After being admitted to the Ophthalmology Department of Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, doctors examined and discovered that both eyes of this child had corneal burns due to heat, along with many corneal foreign bodies. The child was then actively treated and had the corneal foreign bodies removed under a slit lamp.

After 8 days of treatment, the cornea is now completely epithelialized, vision, and burned facial and hand skin have gradually recovered.

Representatives of Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital recommend that families regularly remind and manage children to avoid unfortunate consequences related to firecrackers.
