(Baonghean.vn) - Nearly 10 days have passed since Ky Son - the border land of the province faced heavy damage after the flash flood, the green volunteer shirts of Nghe An youth still did not hesitate to cross the landslide and flood areas to help people overcome the consequences of the flood.
Maximize the effectiveness of local forces

It is determined that in preventing and fighting natural disasters, local forces play an extremely important role. From very early on, implementing the request of Nghe An Provincial Youth Union, the youth volunteer teams for natural disaster prevention and fighting at district and commune levels in Ky Son district have coordinated together to implement action programs.

At the same time, review cases of families with heavy losses of life and property, single-parent families, and families with small children who need timely support. From this list, the Youth Union members and youth force will provide comprehensive support and rescue.

Initial statistics show that 56 houses were swept away and buried by floodwaters, including 54 houses in Ta Ca commune and 1 house in Muong Xen town; 141 houses were severely damaged (79 houses in Ta Ca commune and 62 houses in Muong Xen town); 36 houses were forced to evacuate and could not be inhabited due to the risk of landslides (30 houses in Ta Ca commune and 6 houses in Bao Nam commune); hundreds of people are having to evacuate and temporarily live at the homes of acquaintances and relatives in the area.
Grasping the situation, the on-site youth volunteer team immediately coordinated with the Party Committee, government, and armed forces to dig through the mud and urgently rescue the remaining assets that were deep under the mud.
In particular, Ky Son District Youth Union and Ky Son District Vocational Education and Continuing Education Center mobilized nearly 120 union members and youths to coordinate with volunteer clubs to transport necessities and drinking water across streams and over temporary bamboo bridges to move goods for people in Son Ha and Hoa Son villages, Ta Ca commune.

Comrade Vi Thai Thuan - Secretary of Ky Son District Youth Union said that up to this moment (October 11), the youth volunteer teams of Ky Son youth continue to take turns helping people overcome the consequences of the flood. Activities to clean up the amount of mud that flooded into people's houses when the flash flood passed; at the same time, handling garbage and fallen trees on the roads and at public works are still being carried out urgently. Along with that, the youth union members also effectively supported the reception of support sources at the District Fatherland Front Committee to bring to the people in the villages that suffered heavy damage.
Although tired and exhausted after many days of fighting and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, the youth of Ky Son still determined to make more efforts to help the people stabilize their lives soon.
Carry love to the high mountains
Witnessing the highlands suffering the severe consequences of flash floods, Youth Union branches across the province traveled hundreds of kilometers to reach the people. On the evening of October 2, more than 50 officers and soldiers of the Mobile Police Department, Nghe An Provincial Police, regardless of the wind and rain, set out to carry out their duties. On the morning of October 3, this force was present at the town.Muong Xen town and Ta Ca commune, Ky Son district.Immediately after arriving at the scene, the unit coordinated with other forces to help people in isolated areas get out, overcome the consequences of flash floods and gave 2 tons of rice, hundreds of kilograms of white salt, seasoning powder, fish sauce, instant noodles, clean water and clothes to the people.

Immediately afterwards, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union Le Van Luong was also present in time to hand over 100 million VND to the Fatherland Front Committee of Ky Son district to join hands to help the people of Ky Son district overcome the consequences of flash floods and soon stabilize their lives. This is the amount of money that union members and youths in the province have raised, of which 60 million VND was donated directly at the Provincial Youth Union Congress. Understanding the pain of families whose loved ones died in flash floods, Nghe An Provincial Youth Union also encouraged, visited and provided practical support to help people rebuild their lives.

The Youth Union organizations in Thai Hoa town and Tuong Duong district have directly established volunteer teams to respond quickly to the people. In particular, Thai Hoa town has established a volunteer team of nearly 40 union members and young people to directly help the people, and at the same time, donated 80 million VND in cash and nearly 20 million VND in necessities to give directly.
The Youth Union of Tuong Duong district also sent 110 members to be present there. In addition, the Youth Union at district and city levels such as Vinh city, Yen Thanh district, Que Phong district... also promptly supported tens of millions of VND to the people.

For the Youth Union of Provincial Agencies and the Youth Union of Provincial Enterprises, they directly donated cash and goods to support the people with essential necessities, helping them stabilize their lives soon. Thousands of water crates, bread, and instant noodles worth hundreds of millions of VND were transported by the youth of the two blocks to the people of Ky Son.

Receiving clean water and goods from the hands of young volunteers, Ms. Vi Thi Dau in Binh Son 1 village, Ta Ca commune, one of many families that suffered heavy losses in the recent flash flood, emotionally shared: "In the midst of the flood, without clean water to use, an old person like me did not know what to do. Luckily, there were young volunteers who brought clean water and necessities to my house. Along with that, they also coordinated with the Party Committee and the commune government to support the family in cleaning the mud from their homes and doing other difficult tasks."
