Chinese general affirms great importance to relations with Vietnam

Speaking at the opening of the seminar, Deputy Minister of National Defense Nguyen Chi Vinh emphasized: Vietnam and China are connected by mountains and rivers. Natural geographical factors and historical development have connected the two nations, creating many similarities in culture and customs. In the past struggle for national liberation, the people and armies of the two countries stood side by side, supported and helped each other. In the current period, the two countries have entered a key period of innovation, reform and opening up to build socialism, bringing peace and prosperity to the people.

"The Vietnam-China border defense friendship exchange has become an annual activity of great significance to the political and spiritual life of the military and people in the border areas of the two countries. I believe that this exchange will definitely be successful, contributing to strengthening political trust, creating new momentum and new determination, contributing to deepening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China, and building the Vietnam-China border into a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and sustainable, stable development.

At the seminar, Senior Lieutenant General Shi Jian Guo, Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff Department, Central Military Commission of China, said: The high-level border friendship seminar conveyed the expectations of the people of the two countries to inherit the history of comradeship between the two armies, recalling the 50s and 60s of the last century, the years when Chairman Mao Zedong and President Ho Chi Minh led the people of the two countries to fight side by side.

These deep friendships, forged during the years of revolution and fighting, are our invaluable assets. In addition, there are friendly images of exchanges between the two armies in the new century. All of these images demonstrate the sincere friendship of the two armies' senior generals who have exchanged and patrolled together, building a peaceful border.
