Uber, Grab must publicly disclose revenue and number of vehicles
Before October 30, passenger transport businesses Uber and Grab will have to provide a list of vehicles, drivers and revenue.
The Hanoi Department of Transport has just issued a document requesting passenger transport business units under contract to report on their operations and transport results during the pilot implementation period in Hanoi.
According to the Hanoi Department of Transport, the purpose of the report is to serve state management in automobile transport business activities and evaluate the effectiveness of the pilot work.
Accordingly, the units participating in the pilot business, including Uber and Grab, will have to report specifically the list of vehicles and drivers, business performance, and traffic safety work at each passenger transport business unit. The Hanoi Department of Transport also said that the report must be completed before October 30.

Uber and Grab are about to have to publicly disclose their revenue and number of vehicles. |
As of now, there are less than 3 months left until the pilot project for Uber and Grab ends. During the pilot project, in addition to the controversy with traditional taxi companies, the number of technology taxis has grown too rapidly and there have also been problems when management agencies have difficulty managing the new type of service, which has also caused difficulties for Grab.
In fact, the number of vehicles participating in the Uber and Grab networks is growing rapidly. In Vietnam, although there are no detailed statistics on the number of vehicles participating in Uber and Grab, the rapid growth rate of vehicles that Grab and Uber systems own in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City is causing concern in these localities.
The figure was stated in a meeting of the Ministry of Transport, the current number of vehicles operating under contracts in Ho Chi Minh City has increased to about 22,000 vehicles, double the number of traditional taxis, this number in Hanoi is more than 10,000 vehicles.

Uber is welcomed by many countries, but many countries also "turn their backs" |
Overheating growth can lead to uncontrollable situations. This is also the reason why localities have asked to end the project early and at the same time come up with solutions to limit the number of new vehicles participating.
Previously, in a meeting with leaders of Uber Group in the United States in July, Hanoi Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung also frankly stated that the rapid and uncontrolled development of the system had disrupted the city's taxi planning.
At the same time, it causes the increase in traffic without being fully managed, directly affecting the traffic infrastructure and the control of financial obligations of partners participating in operations and business in Uber's system in Hanoi.
The Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee proposed that Uber Group cooperate in three specific areas: sharing databases so that the city can manage the number of vehicles and individuals participating in the network; and coordinating data sharing to manage income tax of participating partners in accordance with the law.
Thereby, providing, updating information and agreeing with the city on Uber's development plan, ensuring that it does not disrupt traffic planning as well as the passenger transport service system in Hanoi./.
