From August 15-18, the National Assembly Standing Committee held a thematic session to give opinions on a series of draft laws, ordinances, and resolutions.

The meeting opened this morning (August 15). According to the program, 8 draft laws were presented this time, of which 5 draft laws were commented on by the National Assembly at the 3rd Session and are expected to be approved at the 4th Session next October.

Specifically, the National Assembly Standing Committee gave opinions on explaining, accepting and revising the following draft laws: Law on Petroleum (amended); Law on Prevention and Control of Domestic Violence (amended); Law on Inspection (amended); Law on Implementing Democracy at Grassroots Level; Law on Amending and Supplementing a Number of Articles of the Law on Radio Frequencies.

The three draft laws for first comments include: Law on Civil Defense; Law on Consumer Rights Protection (amended) and Law on Anti-Money Laundering.

In addition, at this session, the National Assembly Standing Committee considered and approved the Ordinance on Administrative Sanctions for Acts of Obstructing Litigation Activities; and gave opinions on the draft Resolution promulgating the Rules of the National Assembly Session (amended).

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 14th session of the National Assembly Standing Committee, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue emphasized that this is an extremely important content to prepare for the meetings of full-time delegates and towards the 4th session of the 15th National Assembly.

Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue also requested that the meeting “must have the right members and full participation” to ensure that the meetings related to the draft laws are conducted in a strict and quality manner. Because there are up to 14 draft laws, both for initial comments as well as for consideration and approval, to be submitted to the National Assembly in October, not to mention a number of resolutions of a law-like nature and many other important contents.

It is expected that in September, a 2-day conference of full-time National Assembly deputies will take place to discuss a number of draft laws and resolutions./.
