Prestige and reputation

(Baonghean.vn) - Simply put, prestige is a noun that refers to the trust and admiration that is recognized by everyone. Dignity and prestige often come from people with positions and power. Therefore, when some people have positions, they mistakenly think that they are prestigious, but in fact, that is the authority created by the position.

A prestigious person is one who has cultivated human qualities and personality, and is respected by society through his thinking and behavior in relationships at work as well as with people.

Our ancestors have a saying “once untrustworthy, forever untrustworthy” which shows that reputation is very important in the life of each person. When people do not trust you, it is a tragedy. This is even more important for cadres, party members, especially those with positions and power.

Prestigious people are first of all those who have achieved many successes in work and life. They have solid professional capacity; they do what they say, and do it thoroughly, always being serious with themselves. Because they have a firm grasp of the rules, work, and situations, they often have a long-term vision, are decisive. They are also people with good qualities, personalities, and ethics, always conscious of spreading the good, the right, and the good, helping everyone to progress together.

People with prestige are very careful with their promises. From simple things like setting a time to the content of commitments, once they make a promise, they are interested in fulfilling it according to their promise. When things are uncertain, they do not make empty promises, do not "beat the drum and leave the drum". When there are unexpected events, when they cannot fulfill their promise, they inform their partners specifically and completely so as not to miss out on work. Because of their sincerity and the habit of keeping their word, they are always confident in themselves.

Authority is only valid when the leader knows how to be flexible, wise, strong - soft, decisive - flexible in harmony. Authority is obtained by the innate temperament of a visionary leader, by training, but above all, by a person with a heart, a pure heart, and an understanding of people's hearts. When the person in power has true virtue, true talent, is fair, open and honest, and all actions are for the common good, then power itself has the power to attract people's hearts, people's hearts agree, a word spoken has the power of prestige, the front and back support, and follow.

Unfortunately, in our cadre team, many people, including high-ranking cadres, including those in very important positions, do not have correct perceptions and do not practice seriously. Those are people with positions - "talking to everyone and making everyone listen, threatening everyone and making everyone afraid...", they mistakenly think that they are prestigious. It is not true that when you sit in a high, powerful position, you have prestige. When you do not have prestige, no matter how great your prestige is, it is easy to fade away. Those who value prestige, know how to preserve and build their prestige, even if their position is small and their power is small, their prestige is still noble.

There are people who appear in public, people admire, respect and trust them because they are brave, selfless, not selfish, say what they do, do what they do thoroughly! But there are also people who talk a lot, people laugh and feel sad: They talk well, but... There are also people who talk like they sing well, but their hearts are dark, greedy, hiding behind the "backyard" to cling to and plant wives, children, relatives, so they "open their mouths and get caught", only daring to speak half-heartedly!

For a long time, people have complained a lot about "descendants, money, relationships,...". Because of many "bad things", when achieving their goals, people are also very good at polishing their names, going deep, climbing high, taking advantage, "mixing ripe fruit with green fruit, gold and brass". Those who love power and prestige easily forget their reputation. They tarnish the image of public servants. Those who uphold honor, know how to respect reputation, know how to entrust their personal honor in their actions, work, and assigned responsibilities, then reputation will brighten the image of public servants, and gain the respect of public opinion and people.

President Ho Chi Minh talked a lot about “setting an example” and “being a role model”. Currently, our Party also identifies setting an example as one of the important leadership methods of the Party. The higher the responsibility a cadre holds, the more he must set a good example. Not only setting an example for himself but also setting an example for his wife, children, family and relatives. That is honor, responsibility and integrity. Whether prestige and credibility exist or not, all lie in that self-setting an example.

To truly have prestige, you must constantly study and improve your professional qualifications. No one would put their trust in someone with poor ability and who cannot do the job. You must know how to practice "soft skills" such as organization, management, writing, speaking, operation, handling work, culture, sports... You must know how to build relationships at work, be open in life, and spread good qualities to gain people's trust. You must always keep your promises and commitments to others.

The people's knowledge is increasingly high, and they increasingly put their trust in those with good moral qualities and outstanding abilities. The people respectfully acknowledge those who serve the country and the people, "worry before the world, then enjoy the world". The people also deeply resent those who are corrupt, greedy, selfish, and only care about their own interests.
