VFF finalizes plan to organize V-League 2022 competition
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 29, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) approved the plan to organize the V-League 2022 competition. Accordingly, the country's highest football tournament has changed compared to the last season.
In the last two seasons of V.League, after the end of phase 1 with 13 rounds, the clubs will be divided into two groups to compete for the championship and relegation. However, this has been changed, atV.League2022 will return to the old format, which is playing a round-robin tournament to determine the overall champion.
Because Than Quang Ninh will not participate, V.League 2022 will only have 13 participating teams. Thus, the tournament will have a total of 26 rounds in the familiar home and away format like many previous seasons.

In addition to determining the competition format for the new season, VPF Company has also submitted to VFF the tentative plan for the opening and closing times of the tournament. Notably, in the next season, there will be no match for the V.League 2021 National Super Cup as well as the 2021 National Cup which was canceled midway due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The 2022 V.League season is expected to open on February 19, 2022, with phase 1 ending on August 20, 2022 and the tournament ending on November 12, 2022.
During the 2022 Vietnam Professional Football Tournament, the tournament had to be interrupted at many times so that the national teams could perform international duties at: SEA Games 31 (May), U23 Asia Finals (June), Asiad 19 (September), FIFA Days...
Although there are only 13 teams participating, V.League 2022 will certainly still promise many interesting things when the clubs have all made quality additions to aim for the championship goal. In addition to HAGL, Viettel or Hanoi FC, teams like Binh Dinh and SLNA are also worth paying attention to.
On October 29, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) reported to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) the list of decisions to license clubs to participate in the National Championship, a club-level tournament in 2022.
According to VFF, 11 clubs are licensed to participate in the AFC Cup and the 2022 National Championship, including: Hoang Anh Gia Lai, Viettel, Nam Dinh, Dong A Thanh Hoa, Becamex Binh Duong, Hanoi, SHB Da Nang, Hong Linh Ha Tinh, Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon, Hai Phong.
The VFF Executive Committee granted Song Lam Nghe An and Binh Dinh clubs an exception along with penalties. Specifically, Song Lam Nghe An received a warning and Binh Dinh was reprimanded. These two clubs are not licensed to participate in the AFC 2022 club tournament.
In particular, Than Quang Ninh Club was not licensed to participate in the National Championship and AFC club tournament in 2022 because it did not meet the mandatory A-class licensing criteria on the online licensing system and Quang Ninh Football TV Company Limited - the management unit of Than Quang Ninh Football Club, temporarily suspended its operations.
