Quy duck sold out before Tet
(Baonghean.vn) - Quy gourd duck is one of the unique specialties of Que Phong, Quy Chau. In the days leading up to Tet, the demand for Quy gourd duck increases, many duck farmers have sold out because supply cannot meet demand.
One of the specialties of Que Phong, Quy Chau is the mandarin duck. From the local breeds, in 2003, Mr. Thai Dieu, now Director of Dieu Chau Private Enterprise (Dan village, Tien Phong commune, Que Phong district) obtained the Quy mandarin duck breed to provide breeding stock for the people in the area. Realizing that this was an effective model, in 2007, Que Phong district supported an egg incubator.

In 2010, Dieu Chau Private Enterprise continued to invest in 4 more incubators, increasing the number of laying ducks to 3-4 thousand. Mr. Thai Dieu said: With 5 incubators, each year the Enterprise supplies people in Quy Chau and Que Phong districts with 100,000 Quy ducklings, according to the state support project program.

Mr. Lo Van Tien - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Que Phong district said: Every year, the District People's Committee uses capital from Program 135/CP, Resolution 30a, to support Quy duck breed for poor families to raise and develop the economy, associated with developing the "brand" of Quy duck.
With that method, the Quy duck herd in Que Phong district now has about 60 thousand ducks. People raise ducks, mainly using food from their home gardens, or catching crabs, snails, etc. in the fields, so they are called clean ducks of high quality.
In the days leading up to Tet, the demand for Quy duck food has increased. People in the lowlands have contacted to place orders since half a month ago; many restaurants in the area have also purchased ducks to prepare for Tet; traders are also rushing to Que Phong, Quy Chau to hunt for Quy duck. Duck farmers said that Quy duck is currently out of stock because supply cannot meet demand.
