Strike at Viet Glory (Dien Chau): Company agrees to add seniority allowance for workers

After the meeting aboutresolving workers' complaintsOn the afternoon of February 11, the Board of Directors of Viet Glory Company Limited decided to add seniority allowances for workers from March 2022 and apply to workers who have worked at the company for 1 year or more.

Regarding the content of basic salary increase,Viet Glory Company Limitedrecorded the workers' suggestions and considered implementing them in the coming time. Currently, this company is applying a salary of 3,670,100 VND, 600,000 VND higher than the basic salary of region IV.

Regarding the Covid-19 financial support, the company will request the higher authorities to promptly process the documents to resolve the issue for the workers. The company will inform the workers as soon as the results are available.

In addition, the company also notes that if the employee's working day starts from the middle of the month, seniority will be calculated from the following month; Seniority allowance will be paid for the whole month if they fully participate in work during the month (except for maternity leave, work accident leave, marriage, funeral leave, annual leave, factory leave, holidays), other types of leave will be deducted according to the number of days the employee requests leave; Employees who quit during the month will have their seniority bonus of the month cancelled; For those who return to the factory after quitting their job, seniority bonus will be calculated from the beginning.

The document also clearly states that the company will reopen for business as usual tomorrow, February 12. Workers who do not come to work will be dealt with according to the law and company regulations.

Accordingly, the casecollective work stoppageat the company takes place from noon on February 7, until tomorrow morning (February 12) is the end of the 5-day period.

On the morning of February 11, representatives of the Provincial Federation of Labor were present at Viet Glory Company Limited to discuss with workers and provide advice and guidance to the enterprise to resolve problems regarding wages and seniority allowances. After the meeting, the problems were resolved, and the enterprise leaders promised to officially notify the workers in writing about the changes.

As reported, on the afternoon of February 7, 2022, an incident occurred at Viet Glory Company Limited.collective work stoppagewith the participation of nearly 2,500 workers with the content of requesting benefits. Departments and branches of Dien Chau district including People's Committee; Labor Federation; Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs; District Police; People's Committee, Dien Truong Commune Police and Economic Department of Nghe An Provincial Police were present to participate in resolving.

On the afternoon of February 8, Viet Glory Company Limited responded in writing to 11 requests and petitions from employees.

After the dialogue session on the morning of February 10, the leaders of Viet Glory Company Limited and the workers still could not find a common voice. All the workers did not agree with the company's solution, and continued to ask the company to increase wages and add seniority allowances before returning to work.
