The deforested area in Thanh Chuong is under the management of the owner of the illegally built villa.
(Baonghean.vn)- The natural forest area that was recently cut down on Giang Man mountain belongs to forest owner Cao Trong Hong, residing in Thai Hoa town, who illegally built a "mansion" in Thanh Mai commune.
As reported by Nghe An Newspaper, on April 18, 2023, after receiving the report, the working group of Thanh Thuy Forest Ranger Station, under Thanh Chuong Forest Ranger Department, coordinated with Thanh Ha Commune People's Committee to inspect and discover the deforestation case at Lot 42, Plot 201, Section 6, Sub-area 1004E, Map Sheet No. 2, Thanh Mai Commune. The illegally deforested area is located on Giang Man Mountain, which is the border between Thanh Ha and Thanh Mai communes (both in Thanh Chuong district).

Information from Thanh Chuong Forest Ranger Department said that, comparing the Map as well as information provided by Thanh Mai Commune People's Committee, the area that was cut down was a natural forest that had been assigned to Mr.Cao Trong Hong(Born in 1965), residing in Tay Ho 1 block, Quang Tien ward, Thai Hoa town, security manager.

It is worth mentioning that the deforested area is located not far from where Mr. Cao Trong Hong illegally built a "mansion" in 2017. Although the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong district has issued a decision to administratively sanction the act of illegal construction on forestry land, and at the same time forced Mr. Cao Trong Hong to restore the status of the land before the violation. Specifically, to dismantle and clear all illegally built houses and livestock barns and restore the status of production forest land on plot No. 523, map sheet No. 2 of the forestry map, in Khe Nai forest area, Trung Son hamlet, Thanh Mai commune. However, up to this point, this project has not been handled.

Regarding the illegal deforestation case that just occurred at the foot of Giang Man mountain, on April 24, 2023, Thanh Chuong District People's Committee also issued a Decision to establish an Interdisciplinary Team to inspect, verify and handle the case. The team is led by Mr. Bui Anh Tuan - Deputy Head of Thanh Chuong Forest Protection Department, along with representatives of Thanh Chuong District Police and representatives of a number of relevant departments, offices and local authorities.
Thanh Chuong District People's Committee also assigned the inspection team until May 15, 2023, after which it will report the results and advise the District People's Committee to handle administrative violations in accordance with the provisions of law.
