Nam Giang commune strives to achieve model new rural standards

Focus on economic development

Coming to Nam Giang today, one can see the clear transformation of a semi-mountainous, purely agricultural countryside with many difficulties. Now, concrete roads have stretched to every alley, many vacant lots and rice fields are now formed by industrial clusters, industrial factories, in addition to farming, people have developed bustling commercial and service industries...

Identifying economic development as the focus, in the 2015 - 2020 term, the Party Committee of Nam Giang commune has focused on leading the people to effectively implement the work of land consolidation and plot exchange, converting agricultural land from small plots to large plots; upgrading and expanding the intra-field traffic network to facilitate the introduction of mechanization into production. The application of scientific and technical advances in production, the conversion of varieties and crops is increasingly being focused on, especially the introduction of high-quality rice varieties into production, which has contributed to increasing productivity and high economic value per unit area.

Many households in the commune have boldly invested in purchasing plows and harvesters to serve the needs of agricultural production at home and to provide services inside and outside the commune. The area of ​​high-income fields has increased, in 2016 the average was 60 million VND/ha, by 2019 70% of agricultural land reached 70.72 million VND/ha/year; the agricultural production value in 2016 reached 49.76 billion VND, in 2019 it is estimated to reach 51.43 billion VND, the total food output from 2016 reached 4,211 tons to 3,720.5 tons in 2019.

Livestock farming develops towards commodity production, farm economy is maintained, attention is paid to renovating mixed gardens, developing crops with high economic value, effectively exploiting pond and lake water surface to develop aquaculture.

Industry - handicrafts and construction have developed quite well, the average growth rate of production value in the period 2015 - 2019 is 13.22%. Some industries such as: dashboard production, sawing, carpentry, painting, mechanics... have developed quite quickly, creating jobs for hundreds of workers, the average income of workers is from 5 - 6.5 million VND/person/month.

Small-scale industry in the commune continues to be maintained and developed. There are currently 70 small-scale industrial production establishments, an increase of 5 establishments compared to 2015, creating jobs for 350 workers, an increase of 88 workers compared to 2015.

Commercial services have developed rapidly and are increasingly diverse, the average growth rate of production value in the period 2015 - 2019 of the service industry reached 19.18%. The production value in 2015 was over 65 billion VND, by 2019 it reached over 102.5 billion VND, the number of commercial business establishments increased from 377 establishments (2015) to 463 establishments by the end of 2019.

Building a model new countryside

During the 2015 - 2020 term, the Party committees, authorities, and organizations from the commune to the hamlet have focused on leading, directing, and implementing synchronously and resolutely solutions to promote the program of building advanced new rural areas and model new rural areas. The commune has mobilized internal resources, taken advantage of external resources, and with the support of superiors, attracted investment in infrastructure construction.

In addition to the state's support through programs and projects, the people have been mobilized to contribute over 8 billion VND, contributing to the construction of increasingly spacious and clean rural roads in the commune and completing the construction of a new-style rural commune according to the goals of the Resolution of the Commune Party Congress.

Pursuant to Decision No. 17/QD-TTg dated January 4, 2019 of the Prime Minister approving the pilot project "building Nam Dan district, Nghe An province to become a model new rural district in the direction of cultural development associated with tourism, period 2018-2025", the Party Committee of the commune established a Steering Committee, issued a specialized resolution on building a model new rural commune in the period 2019 - 2023. The commune has mobilized resources to continue to consolidate and strengthen the achieved criteria, supported budget and people contributed to complete the construction of the project.

Up to now, 29.5 km of hard roads, 16 km of drainage ditches for people have been upgraded, 1.7 km of intra-field ditches have been concreted, the kindergarten has been completed and put into use; the 2-storey school building of the secondary school has been upgraded; the campus, fences, and office parking lot have been upgraded; the Doc Loi Son temple campus has been renovated and upgraded; flower planting has been launched at the headquarters, school, commune health station, and at the village cultural house, creating a clean and beautiful landscape highlight; lotus planting has been directed at the Doc Loi Temple pond, the pond along National Highway 539, and the lotus pond in front of Havina company; and standard garden and model garden models have been built.

Participate in the contest "Beautiful New Rural Commune 2018"; develop a plan to turn Nam Giang into a model New Rural Commune in the direction of "Exploiting spiritual cultural values, ecological landscapes associated with spiritual tourism, experiential community tourism"; strive to build Nam Giang commune to reach the finish line of a model New Rural Commune by 2023.

In addition, the socio-cultural field has changed positively, social policies have been implemented. Poverty reduction has made much progress, in 2016 the whole commune had 57 poor households, accounting for 3.47%, by early 2020 the whole commune had 27 poor households, accounting for 1.55%. The task of ensuring national defense has been effectively implemented, political security and social order and safety have been maintained. Party building work has been strengthened, the political system has become increasingly strong. The above results are thanks to the efforts of the entire political system and the high consensus from the people.

With the Congress theme "Improving the leadership capacity and fighting strength of the Party Committee, promoting the strength of great national unity, ensuring national defense and security, mobilizing all resources, determined to build Nam Giang into a model new-style rural commune by 2023", for the 2020-2025 term, the Party Committee, government and people of Nam Giang commune strengthen solidarity and consensus within the Party and among the people; mobilize all resources, strive to develop Nam Giang comprehensively, becoming a commune with a good economy, strong in socio-culture, and strong in national defense and security. Strive to meet the model new-style rural standards, and be a commune with outstanding achievements in the top group in the whole Nam Dan district. To achieve that goal, it requires each cadre, party member and person of Nam Giang commune to make efforts to successfully carry out the assigned tasks.
