Quynh Thuan commune strives to improve the quality of new rural criteria

(Baonghean) - Quynh Thuan is a commune in the coastal area of ​​Quynh Luu district, the main occupation is salt production and agriculture, the socio-economic situation is difficult, production depends on nature. Notably, the Party Committee, government and people of Quynh Thuan have overcome difficulties to become the leading unit in the emulation movements of the district.

It is also a joy that Quynh Thuan was encouraged by the Steering Committee for New Rural Development (NTM) in Quynh Luu to build NTM. Mr. Tran Ngoc Binh - Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee shared: In 2013, the locality built a roadmap, and in 2014, especially in 2015, adjusted the target, took advantage of the opportunity, and promptly accelerated to reach the NTM finish line nearly 3 years ahead of schedule (Resolution of the 29th Commune Party Congress set the target of reaching the NTM finish line in 2018). Up to now, looking back at the past journey of struggle, the Party Committee, government and people of Quynh Thuan can be proud.

Regarding specific methods, determining the criteria for increasing income and reducing poverty is one of the key contents, but it is also a point with many limitations of the locality, so from quite early on, the commune focused on implementing the rearrangement and renovation of fields, and bringing new crops into production. On the other hand, continue to encourage people to exploit the advantages of coastal communes, invest in fishing activities and develop the fishery logistics service industry; continue to develop industrial, handicraft and secondary occupations; effectively implement poverty reduction solutions for the people.

Thanks to that, up to now, in addition to the salt industry, the commune has 7 large offshore fishing boats, hundreds of workers, and dozens of facilities providing fishing logistics services. In addition, along with hundreds of hectares of vegetables every year, the commune has a model of about 2 hectares of dragon fruit, 1 hectare of chili for export and 14 hectares of sugarcane, which are new crops that promise high income. The average income per capita of the whole commune increased from 15.9 million VND in 2013 to 26.3 million VND in 2015; poor households decreased from 9.7% to 4% (old criteria); there are no more hungry households.

Quynh Thuan has also focused on investing and upgrading its strengths in the fields of culture, education and health. Every year, the commune spends billions of dong to upgrade school facilities and medical stations. Thanks to that, the commune always ranks first among the communes along the coastal areas of the district in terms of this group of criteria. Currently, all 3 kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools and the commune health station have met national standards, of which the primary school and the medical station have met level 2 standards; all 9/9 villages have achieved and maintained the cultural title since 2010; the commune regularly maintains annual cultural and sports activities, well serving the cultural enjoyment needs of the people.

Another clear mark of Quynh Thuan in building new rural areas is the construction of rural traffic. In addition to the 7.1 km of commune and inter-commune roads (also National Highway 48B) that have been asphalted, with 1,500 tons of cement supported by the State, in less than 2 months, the commune mobilized people to build 16.46/17.73 km of the main roads of the village; upgraded 100% of the alleys to be clean and beautiful. Thanh Doai and Truong Thinh villages are the villages with the active movement of building rural traffic.

Thanh Doai has 1.62/1.62 km of village roads concreted in less than 2 months; people actively contributed working days and money to buy sand and gravel, and as the road was built, people donated land and dismantled the surrounding walls. The whole Truong Thinh village has 153 households/680 people, but mobilized 2,100 laborers, and contributed 400,000 VND/person, equivalent to 260 million VND to buy sand and gravel, and within more than 1 month, completed 1.5/1.5 km of standard concrete road.

It must be said that thanks to the construction of the new rural area, not only has every alley been concreted, but the countryside scenery in Quynh Thuan has become more spacious and fresh. The valuable thing in the process of designing and constructing rural roads is that the commune still retains some of the typical features of a coastal village...

Talking about the investment in construction to change the face of the commune, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Thuan commune said: Thanks to good propaganda, the commune mobilized people to contribute nearly 95 billion VND to build new rural areas, donated 11,500 m2 of land and thousands of m2 of surrounding walls, worth over 5 billion VND to expand and straighten traffic corridors. In 5 years, the commune mobilized 246.48 billion VND to implement new rural criteria, of which people invested in renovating houses worth 32 billion VND; the source from integrated programs and projects was about 110 billion VND, the provincial, district and commune budgets supported over 7.3 billion VND.

The above achievements are the efforts of the entire political system and especially the people of Quynh Thuan commune. Talking to us, Chairman of the People's Committee Tran Quoc Tuan shared: Although the commune has reached the NTM finish line, the tasks ahead of the commune still have many difficulties and challenges when the income and jobs of the people are not really stable and sustainable.

In the coming time, on the one hand, the commune will take full advantage of the support from superiors to complete unfinished items and continue to improve the quality of the criteria. On the other hand, the commune will continue to find solutions to promote economic restructuring, guide people to change their careers, exploit the advantages of coastal communes to develop secondary industries and fishing logistics... By achieving the above goals, Quynh Thuan will not only achieve the NTM criteria in a sustainable manner, but also lay the foundation for planning and implementing the next development goals.
